Job Title: Security Analyst – Cybersecurity Engineering & Operations

Location: Toronto ON, Hybrid position

Reports To: Cybersecurity Director

Employment Type: Full-Time

Compensation: 95,000$ - 110,000$ + benefits + bonus

Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.   The range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position.   Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   More specific salary range for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process.  Please note that the compensation details listed reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, benefits, pension contributions or additional incentives.

Scope of the position:

The Security Analyst – Cybersecurity Engineering & Operations plays a critical role in safeguarding the organization’s IT and OT (Operational Technology) environments. This position focuses on implementing, maintaining, and monitoring Cybersecurity solutions across enterprise systems, manufacturing networks, and production technologies. The analyst will work closely with IT, plant operations, and engineering teams to ensure secure and resilient operations that protect both information and production assets.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Security Operations & Monitoring
    • Monitor security alerts and incidents across IT and OT environments using SIEM, SOAR, and EDR tools.
    • Perform triage, investigation, and escalation for detected security events.
    • Support incident response activities, including containment, eradication, and recovery.
    • Maintain clear documentation of incidents, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.
  • Security Engineering & Tool Management
    • Deploy, configure, and maintain security technologies such as firewalls, endpoint protection, network segmentation, and vulnerability scanners.
    • Support security integration for manufacturing and plant control systems (e.g., PLCs, SCADA, ICS).
    • Tune detection and automation rules in SIEM/SOAR platforms to enhance visibility and response.
    • Collaborate with OT engineers to balance production uptime with security best practices.
  • Vulnerability & Risk Management
    • Conduct vulnerability assessments of IT and OT assets and track remediation progress.
    • Work with system owners and plant teams to prioritize patching and hardening activities.
    • Participate in risk assessments for new projects, systems, and third-party integrations.
    • Assist in maintaining asset inventories and risk registers for both IT and OT systems.
  • Support Security Governance & Compliance
    • Support implementation of cybersecurity standards such as ISO 27001, NIST CSF, and ISA/IEC 62443.
    • Participate in audits, compliance reporting, and control testing activities.
    • Contribute to development and enforcement of security policies, procedures, and baselines.
    • Provide guidance and awareness training to manufacturing and operations staff.
  • Collaboration & Reporting
    • Work cross-functionally with infrastructure, cloud, and application teams to embed security into operational workflows.
    • Prepare dashboards, reports, and metrics related to security operations and tool performance.
    • Support in 24x7 monitoring rotation or on-call response as needed.

          6. Continuous Improvement

    • Assist in evaluating emerging security technologies and methodologies. Recommend and help deploy new security technologies to strengthen the Cybersecurity program.
    • Support implementation of security standards, policies, and procedures.
    • Participate in audits, compliance activities, and documentation updates.

     

    Qualifications:

     

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
    • 3–6 years of experience in cybersecurity operations, security engineering, or industrial network security.
    • Experience supporting security in manufacturing or industrial control environments preferred.

    Technical Skills

    • Hands-on experience with SIEM (e.g., Rapid7, Microsoft Sentinel), EDR (e.g., CrowdStrike, Defender for Endpoint), and vulnerability management tools (e.g., Rapid 7, Qualys).
    • Knowledge of firewalls, IDS/IPS, and network segmentation in OT and IT environments.
    • Familiarity with ICS/SCADA systems, PLCs, and industrial protocols (Modbus, OPC, DNP3) a plus.
    • Understanding of Windows, Linux, and industrial control system architectures.
    • Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell, Python, Bash) preferred.
    • Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and secure connectivity in hybrid environments.

    Other experience:

    • Experience with operational technology (OT) or industrial control systems (ICS) Cybersecurity principles.
    • Knowledge of relevant manufacturing compliance standards (e.g., NIST 800-171, ISA/IEC 62443).
    • CompTIA Security+, GICSP, or GIAC (e.g., GCIA, GCIH) certifications.
    • CISSP, or CISM certifications are an advantage.

    • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities in complex networked environments.
    • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Ability to balance security with operational priorities in a production context.
