We are wantinig to employ a Recovery Champion to support people who use our service in Northampton to engage with substance use treatment in the community. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team you will work with those who are directly impacted by their own substance use, as well as working with key partners to empower communities.

Hours: 0

Hourly Rate: £14.11

Contract Type: Sessional 

 

Responsibilities

About the role: 

  • Meet individuals to discuss their personal goals regarding their recovery and encourage individuals to engage with substance use treatment
  • Support with covering duty, reception and group work
  • Create links with stakeholders and local communities and work to target people affected by drugs and alcohol who are hard to reach – those who are at risk of being recalled to prison, those isolated in communities, unaware of services, or who do not feel services are for them 
  • Attend team meetings/group supervision with the aim of sharing good practice and finding solutions 
  • Utilise existing local resources and build local community awareness, signposting to relevant agencies 
  • Provide personalised recovery coaching to individiuals

 

About you: 

  • Lived experience of drug or/and alcohol use 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with good IT skills 
  • Be able to build relationships with individuals with multiple needs, whilst remaining empathetic and non-judgemental toward Service Users 
  • Confident in working alone as well as part of a team 
  • Can remain calm under pressure 
  • Able to travel as required, including where public transport is not available
