What We Are Looking For

Ceres Environmental Operations is seeking an Environmental Compliance Officer to support demolition, debris disposal, and hazardous materials operations while ensuring compliance with applicable environmental regulations. This role is critical to maintaining regulatory integrity on FEMA-funded and emergency response projects.

The Environmental Compliance Officer will work closely with project teams, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure environmental compliance, documentation accuracy, and risk mitigation across active job sites.

Success in this role is measured by consistent regulatory compliance, proactive issue identification, and effective support of field operations.

What You Will Do

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations related to demolition debris disposal and hazardous materials management.
Conduct environmental inspections and oversee field activities to verify adherence to approved permits, plans, and regulatory requirements.
Serve as the primary environmental compliance resource for assigned projects, including FEMA-funded work.
Monitor, document, and report environmental compliance activities in accordance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and regulatory agencies to address and resolve environmental compliance issues.
Maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and regulatory documentation.
Provide guidance and training to field personnel on environmental compliance procedures and best practices.
Identify potential environmental risks and recommend corrective actions to prevent violations.

Required Qualifications

Minimum of three (3) years of experience in environmental compliance related to demolition debris disposal and hazardous materials management.
Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Certified Inspector Supervisor (required).
Working knowledge of FEMA requirements and applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
Experience supporting compliance on construction, demolition, debris management, or disaster response projects.
Strong documentation, reporting, and organizational skills.
Ability to travel and work in field environments as required.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience on FEMA-funded or disaster recovery projects.
Familiarity with emergency response, environmental remediation, or debris management operations.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with regulators, contractors, and internal teams.

What to Expect

This is a field-focused role supporting active project sites. The Environmental Compliance Officer will spend time conducting inspections, coordinating with project teams, and maintaining regulatory documentation. Travel and work in varying field conditions should be expected, particularly during emergency response operations.

Physical Requirements and Environment
