Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the fitness floor to ensure the safety of members and guests; Enforce policies and procedures specific to the fitness floor and ensure a safe and inclusive environment
  • Assist members and guests with concerns, questions, and incidents/accidents; Respond to any incidents/accidents and follow the emergency action plan
  • Understand and demonstrate competencies in the emergency action plan
  • Demonstrate safe and effective instruction to members and guests on all cardiovascular and fitness equipment
  • Assist members with spotting or lifts if necessary
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment; Daily routine cleaning of fitness floor areas and equipment to include, but not limited to: fitness floor desk, towel cubbies, lockers, free weight area, all Matrix and Life Fitness equipment, stretching room and power lifting area
  • Ensure proper operation of all equipment with preventative maintenance and cleaning; Report any equipment maintenance to the Building Manager
  • Follow all opening and closing procedures; Continuously organize, replenish and clean all equipment as it is used by members and guest while on shift
  • Assist the Fitness Floor Supervisor, Building Managers and the professional staff as requested;
  • Other duties as assigned by management
  • Attend all staff trainings and meetings 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Maintain current CPR/AED & first aid certification (certification provided by HRC)
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Willingness and ability to enforce policies and resolve conflicts
  • An understanding of cardiovascular and strength equipment

Competencies:

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Ability to think quickly and make sound decisions on the spot
  • Ability to handle several tasks at once with frequent interruptions
  • An understanding of proper spotting and lifting techniques
  • Some experience in fitness and/or an athletic setting
