About the Role
 
We are seeking a Geo-Environmental Consultant to join our growing team at our South Office in Wickham, Hampshire. Due to continued growth and expanding workload, we're expecting the team to expand further into 2026, making this an exciting time to join us with excellent opportunities for professional development and career progression.
 
This role is ideal for someone with approximately 1-2 years' relevant experience – whether you're already working at consultant level or you're a graduate looking to take the next step in your career. You'll work as part of an experienced team delivering geo-environmental and geotechnical consultancy services to a diverse range of clients, with a good balance of site and office working.


Key Responsibilities

  • Be familiar with relevant standards, guidance and legislative background to the geo-environmental and geotechnical industry
  • Supervise ground investigations involving various techniques, manage subcontractors, log and sample soil and rock to BS5930
  • Monitor gas and groundwater, undertake in-situ tests, and conduct validation visits
  • Schedule chemical and geotechnical laboratory testing and produce exploratory hole logs using Holebase or similar
  • Produce calculations from templates and drawings (including in CAD)
  • Write Phase I desk study reports and Coal Mining Risk Assessments (CMRAs)
  • Prepare health and safety documentation and implement safety standards on site
  • Write interpretive reports including Phase II geo-environmental assessments, risk assessments, and geotechnical assessments
  • Input, screen, analyse and interpret site data, presenting clear logical arguments
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, clients and suppliers
  • Assist with preparing proposals for new work and check/approve subcontractor invoices
  • Comply with internal policies, procedures and ISO standards



Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Essential Requirements:
  • Approximately 1-2 years relevant experience (including graduate roles)
  • Undergraduate degree (2:1 or above) in relevant subject (geology, environmental science, geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, physical geography etc.)
  • Full UK driving licence (manual transmission)
  • Good IT skills and competent with MS Office
  • Strong work ethic, able to work effectively alone or as part of a team
  • Good problem-solving skills with ability to adapt and find practical solutions
 
Desirable:
  • Postgraduate degree or Masters in relevant subject
  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and Holebase
  • Knowledge of remediation strategies and techniques
  • Experience with verification of remediation works and preparation of verification reports
  • Familiarity with earthworks, materials/waste management, and MMPs under CL:AIRE DoWCoP
  • Soil mechanics knowledge and foundation bearing capacity calculations
  • Experience liaising with regulators
