What will you be doing in this role?

The Point of Care Ultrasound Coordinator Specialist ensures high quality clinical services are provided in an expeditious and cost-effective manner, meeting the needs of patients, and referring clinicians by coordinating the Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) program. This role verifies that that all point of care ultrasound exams are properly documented in the electronic medical record and images are stored in the appropriate database/system. Reviews point of care ultrasound exams and provides training and feedback as needed. Resolves service delivery issues in a timely and professional manner.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Verifies that all POCUS exams are properly documented in the electronic medical record and images are stored in the appropriate system/database
  • Monitors and assesses imaging workflow. Performs observations of imaging staff and provides suggestions for improvement
  • Works collaboratively with departmental physicians and liaisons to resolve issues related to POCUS documentation and image capture
  • Reviews status of staff certifications, updates certification log, and performs competency checks to evaluate tech skills
  • Orients and trains staff/temp sonographers on equipment, systems, standard workflow, policies, and procedures
  • Performs diagnostic and guidance ultrasound exams utilizing approved procedures and protocols per standards of practice based on the department's accrediting agency and/or department guidelines for exam protocols. Adheres to department productivity standars
  • Previews images and monitors for accuracy. Prepares/sends preliminary reports to designated viewing systems. Performs QC procedures using established technical factors and image identification
  • Coordinates service calls with vendors for routine maintenance and equipment service calls
  • Assists with PACS quality assurance, provides feedback, corrects PACS errors as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
