The Business Development Manager supports the development and execution of strategic plans to expand and enhance business opportunities within the Public Sector, as well as Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs) and other such collaborative buying groups, within the assigned business segment “Public Sector.” This individual generates new business through various business development activities including identifying and strategically targeting contracts, mentoring sellers, supporting prospecting, networking, and building customer relationships, and interfacing with CDW PPM department to support strategic partner growth plans, as well as positioning CDW as a preferred partner for public-sector contracts. 

What you'll do:

  • Drive incremental revenue and profit growth through GPO and individual customer contract wins and strategic sales initiatives.
  • Identify key contract opportunities and maintain a contract pipeline.
  • Analyze opportunities and provide thought leadership to sales teams with various options and the best strategy to secure large contract/customer wins.
  • Assist in communicating to our manufacturer partners our focused market acceleration strategy; supports the development of partner-facing business plans to position CDW as a preferred partner for large contracts and secures advantageous pricing or appointment to contracts. 
  • Coordinate with appropriate internal resources to execute contract paperwork, such as Adoption Agreements, NDAs and Teaming Agreements
  • Post-contract award activities: New contract launch initiatives including seller enablement trainings, OEM partner trainings, marketing material, and other administrative tasks.
  • Own relationship with GPO partners. Lead business reviews and strategic initiatives.
  • Be the subject matter expert on all GPO contracts.
  • Support development of and execution of go-to-market strategies and unique value proposition statements for each of the major broader public-sector verticals: higher education, K-12, healthcare, federal and municipal/provincial governments.
  • Represent CDW at external customer or partner meetings, conferences, and industry events.
  • Develop and maintain a high level of knowledge on CDW’s solutions and services, as well as those of CDW competitors.

What we expect of you:

  • Hold a post-secondary degree or diploma
  • 5+ years if experience selling technology or in a sales support role
  • Possess a strong understanding of the IT market

Nice to have:

  • A wide network of contacts in the IT sector (manufacturers, resellers, customers)
  • One or more years of experience working on large contract pursuits
  • Experience selling to or supporting customers in the public sector
  • Familiarity with GPOs and broader public sector procurement directives

Each of our roles is assigned a salary range that is informed by multiple sources of market data. We determine individual pay within a given range based on a candidate's prior experience, knowledge, skills and abilities. This approach allows us to offer competitive and equitable salaries that reflect the value and responsibilities of each role at CDW. Salaries are based on a 40-hour workweek, and paid on a bi-weekly payroll schedule.

Pay range: $ 51, 500- $ 76, 200, depending on experience and skill set
