Your role at CBC: 

CBC is looking for a well-rounded, experienced marketing leader with demonstrated understanding of marketing campaigns, brand management and proven experience in leading integrated, multi-stakeholder projects to help develop and lead our newcomer marketing strategy

Reporting to the Head of Marketing Strategy, the Senior Manager, Marketing will help to build CBC’s cross-functional Newcomer audience awareness and acquisition strategy, including information-gathering, team-building, strategic development and cross-functional implementation across CBC’s programming, platform and business ecosystem.  This project will require developing and implementing comprehensive strategies to address the needs of newcomers in the context of the Public Broadcaster and its English Services platforms and programming.

With knowledge of CBC’s brand, programming, services, and platforms, the successful candidate will be comfortable working independently and within a highly collaborative team environment.

This is a hybrid role, with agreement to be in-office at minimum one day per week.

Key Responsibilities and Projects:

  • Develop and execute annual CBC’s go-to-market strategy for newcomer audience acquisition.
  • Project development & stakeholder management (internal and external) including senior / mid level management across multiple business lines (Programming, Business & Rights, Marketing, Creative, Research, PR, National & Local Services) and external agencies.
  • Strategic planning.
  • Resource management including paid media.
  • Leads the work within department as assigned, with project teams participating within Marketing & Communications including Marketing, Creative, Digital, PR, Research.
  • Network-wide roll out of strategy.
  • Makes decisions both independently and under guidance and authority of the Head of Marketing, including financial; High degree of judgement required.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

Education:

  • Post-secondary, B/A preferred; Communications, Marketing, Advertising, related discipline is preferred.

Experience:

  • 10 years of relevant experience and 5 years experience managing or leading teams.
  • Marketing and communication strategic plans; communications planning; strategic account management including brand management, marketing, publicity, public relations, sponsorship, internal and external relations.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficiency in English, Additional languages will be considered a strong asset.
  • Advertising strategies, current creative trends, current trends in audience consumption, experience working with different communities of interest.
  • Standard business - Google suite, Office.
  • Requires creativity, strategic thinking, ability to work cross-functionally as a lead and as a member of high performing team, ability to analyse and act upon data.
  • High emotional intelligence, interpersonal skills, presentation skills written and verbal, public speaking.
