IT Senior Analyst (English Services) (On-Site)

CBC Manitoba is looking for an IT Senior Analyst to join our Technology Services team. Reporting to the Supervisor, Technology Services Manitoba and Saskatchewan; you will be monitoring, maintaining and improving the region’s IT infrastructure in a media environment.  You are a vital part of the technology services team working closely with other Technologists that supports our programs and content generation for our streaming, digital, social, radio and TV platforms. You will be a creative thinker with the desire to learn the technology behind the various content creation systems such as, Avid, Dalet, and Adobe.

You will work closely with the CBC/Radio-Canada’s Technology and Infrastructure department to document and develop troubleshooting and configuration procedures.  You will be responsible with first/second tier network, desktop, and server support. You will be required to work a variety of shifts, often independently and without supervision. Key Tasks:

  • Receive support requests and respond to client network, desktop, and server requests in a polite and timely manner.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot possible network, desktop, and server connectivity or infrastructure related problems.

  • Configure and install servers, workstations and IT equipment.

  • Audit IT technology and provide recommendations to improve reliability and performance.

  • Provide root cause analysis on any network, desktop, and server outage.

  • Outage Management: investigation, communication, triage and escalation.

  • Participate in production changes and turnovers across the corporation's infrastructure.

  • Create, supplement or update documentation for Technologists and end users.

  • Create trouble cases with vendors, service providers and the Technology and Infrastructure department to diagnose network, desktop, and server issues. 

  • Work as a team member with other technical and production staff.

Qualifications - External

We are looking for a candidate with the following: 

Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in computer science or other appropriate field, as required in the role, along with three (3) years’ of proven experience performing network operations duties; or relevant experience and proven ability in IT network administration and analysis.

  • Proficiency with Windows PC imaging and AD management.

  • Proficiency and knowledge of iOS/OS X apple products.

  • Proficiency with Cisco Internetworking (switching/routing).

  • Proficiency with various network protocols such as IP, TCP, UDP, FTP, ARP, QoS, VoIP, OSPF, DNS, Spanning-tree, ECMP, VPC, 802.1q, 802.3ad, GRE.

  • Proficiency with firewall concepts.

  • Proficiency with cloud computing and virtualization concepts (VMWare).

  • Proficiency with Cisco wireless controllers and access points.

  • Knowledge of IP Telephony Systems.

  • General knowledge of IT security.

  • General knowledge and interest in media production.

  • Strong English written and verbal communications skills.  French and other languages are an asset.

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical and non-technical issues and concepts to clients, service providers and other Technologists

  • Knowledge of digital video and digital audio technology and file transcode systems which may include Dalet and AVID products.

  • Ability to analyse network log information.

  • Ability to write documentation and technical specifications.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and urgent requests.

  • Ability to learn new skills and work well in a team.

  • Independent, self-motivated and responsible.

  • Willingness to work outside of normal business hours (evenings and weekends) and occasional travel within Manitoba.
