Created in 2015 to align, lighten and modernize infrastructure, the Technology and Infrastructure (T&I) team is the backbone and the future forward arm of CBC/Radio-Canada. This is a hybrid role with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.

Your Role

Technological Infrastructure Support Toronto is currently looking for a strong and progressive Manager able to have positive working relationships with fellow CBC leadership and to lead a team of System Analysts whose primary objective is to maintain the operating system,  applications, coding, development, system monitoring with a focus on information security.

Activities will consist of:

  • Day to day direction of team tasks focus on balanced workload.
  • Set and align team objectives with departments and corporate priorities
  • Promote a community of wellbeing to ensure a healthy workplace.
  • Ensure that corporate architecture and security guidelines are followed.
  • Ensure that appropriate inventories of technical parts and supplies and contingencies are available to facilitate production operations.
  • Day to day supervision, assignment and effective utilisation of staff including developing hiring criteria, participating in selection boards, administering performance dialogue conversations, delivering regular performance feedback, administering discipline and ensuring that staff perform work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Determine training and development requirements and arranges on the job training and negotiations external training resources.
  • Work with staff set professional development goals
  • Ensure staff adherence to superior standards of client service.
  • Manage assigned budget to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Manage and authorize annual leave. Review and approve overtime and on-call hours.
  • Provide and coordinate necessary support staff to assist Engineering in the evaluation and installation of equipment and facilities. Collaborate with Engineering to develop testing procedures for system applications.
  • Ensure compliance to CBC standards for all technical installations and modifications of technical equipment and facilities. Provide necessary technical feedback to ensure long-term serviceability of all installations.
  • Consult with Engineering on related projects and recommend solutions for projects.
  • Analyze system failures, supportability to determine risk and make strategic and financially responsible changes to improve audience impact mitigations.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • Graduation from Community College or University in Electronics Engineering or Systems Engineering (an asset), or other relevant area of study or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Broad professional understanding of media production.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Well developed problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
