At CBC in Quebec, we focus on finding the angles that matter to our audience and telling stories that are rooted in our English-speaking communities across Quebec. We are guided by the principles of excellence, collaboration and creativity.
CBC Montreal is a multiplatform newsroom where our original and breaking news coverage is driven by the digital desk on mobile, social and video streaming platforms. In this role, you will play an integral role in the accurate and timely delivery of live and on-demand news through text, live pages, video and audio.
We are looking for a journalist who demonstrates exceptional skill in going beyond the headlines to bring more depth and context to CBC’s digital platforms. This position requires someone who can turn around timely or breaking stories on a wide variety of topics, and also craft longer, complex reports.
You would be primarily assigned to report, write and edit for digital publishing and therefore must be an excellent writer and editor. You should be excited about video storytelling on our owned-and-operated and social platforms and be on top of the audience needs in those spaces. A strong candidate for this position would be someone who is innovative, open to trying new things and inspires others to do the same.
We are looking for a journalist who is tapped into local communities to listen and bring their voices forward. We deliver trusted journalism that is inclusive, innovative, helpful and bold.

In this role, you will have an uncompromising attention to detail and accuracy, and ensure that all CBC journalistic standards are met and that our stories are fair, balanced, accurate, thoughtful and immediate, and resonate with the communities we serve.
For reference purposes, you will be assigned to the Quebec digital news team based in Montreal. The schedule is rotation-based shift work.
