The Work:

 

The Registered Nurse provides occupational health services to support the Clients Health Unit (HU). The Registered Nurse (RN) assists with operation and all services rendered for the client’s needs. Our client provides a wide range of services, including (but not limited to):

  • Provide non-emergency and emergency treatment (fitness for duty exams, preventative health screening exams, administration of allergy shots and other immunizations, treatment and/or assessment of on-the-job illnesses or injuries, etc.).
  • Provides and promotes wellness initiatives (prevention-oriented clinical assessments, health screenings, immunizations, etc.).
  • Provide treatment for minor injuries (suture and suture removal, abrasions, minor musculoskeletal injuries, etc.).
  • Provide medical consultations for illnesses which include non-occupational and occupational illnesses.
  • Maintain medical surveillance program to meet the requirements of the Washington D.C. Facility (DCF).
  • Document and maintain records of employee injury and wellness data using Occupational Health and Safety Software.
  • Document positive and negative health trends, identifying opportunities for improvement and achievements.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

 

The Registered Nurse (RN) assists with operation and all services rendered at the client’s Health Unit. This position aligns with the core values of promoting a safe and healthy work environment, ensuring employee well-being, and upholding the highest standards of medical care.

  • Plans and provides comprehensive nursing care with limited supervision
  • Act as the nurse case manager for workers' compensation cases.
  • Provide all other services normally offered under an Occupational Health Medical Office Services to include audiometry, spirometry screenings, immunizations, and workers' compensation follow up.
  • Work with web-based computer systems, Occupational Health and Safety software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Assist the Medical Director with monitoring Local, State, and/or Federal mailboxes and inform the Medical Director of all urgent matters.
  • Review and interpret spirometry tests (Pulmonary Function Test).
  • Review audiograms, determine work-relatedness of hearing loss, follow-up work-related hearing loss, and manage audiometric databases.
  • Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocol.
  • Maintain work area, exam rooms, and supplies.
  • Always maintain a professional appearance and personal conduct.
  • Attend meetings as requested.
  • Follow all the Client’s policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to employer work practices as described in Cayuse policies.
  • Perform additional reports as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications – Here’s What You Need:

  • Active, unrestricted nursing license to practice medicine in the Washington D.C. area (DC, MD, and VA).
  • Active Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) certificate.
  • Active National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Spirometry (NIOSH) certificate.
  • Active CPR certification.
  • Active AED certification.
  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse - S (COHN-S) (Encouraged, not required)
  • Credit Check is required.
  • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.
  • Must possess problem-solving skills.
  •   Must be able to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to respond effectively to customers with a sense of urgency.
  • Highly Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to handle and manage multiple tasks at any one time.
  • Ability to forge new relationships, individual and teaming in nature.
  • Must be a Self-starter, that can work independently and as part of a team.

Reports to: Program Manager

 

Working Conditions:

  • Professional medical office environment.
  • Must be able to work on-site at the client’s facility in Washington, DC.
  • Clinic hours as approved by Manager/Director
  • The position may require flexible working hours, including potential weekend or shift work, to ensure continuous coverage of the Health Unit.
  • Visual acuity is adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of patient and reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
  • Adequate physical ability includes sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite health care service. Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting, and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.
  • Must be physically and mentally able to perform duties extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed to meet the demands of this position.
  • Must be able to establish a productive and professional workspace.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time looking at computer screen.
  • May be asked to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays.
  • May be asked to travel for business or professional development purposes.
  • May be asked to work hours outside of normal business hours.

Pay Range

USD $38.95 - USD $47.00 /Hr.
