Position Summary
The Patient Services Representative supports providers and assists patients with the administrative and clerical needs of the practice.
Reports To: Practice Manager or designee (Office Coordinator)
Essential Job Functions
Based on division of duties and workflow in each location, responsibilities may include some or all of the following:

Check in patients upon arrival

Verify and update patient demographics

Scan insurance cards and obtain required signatures (HIPAA, etc.)

Update patient status in Medent (arrived, waiting, etc.)

Collect co-pays and outstanding balances
-
Schedule patient appointments, follow-ups, and additional services (labs, imaging, procedures, testing)

Take messages and triage incoming phone calls
-
Answer and direct incoming calls; turn phones over to/from answering service

Initiate insurance referrals and pre-authorizations
-
Place new and returning patients into provider schedules per office protocols

Send orders and patient communications, including patient portal emails

Mail new patient questionnaires

Print daily and next-day schedules
-
Check out patients and print clinical visit summaries (CVS)

Perform daily cash-out and bank deposits
-
Open and organize provider templates
-
Assist with provider and physician meeting scheduling (as applicable)

Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills

Ability to think through issues and identify solutions

Strong time management and prioritization skills

Proficiency with computers; experience with Medent and Microsoft Office preferred
Required Education and Experience
-
High School diploma or equivalent required
-
Previous medical office experience preferred
-
College-level training or education in a healthcare support field preferred
-
Prior EMR experience or training helpful

Location and Schedule

Location: Centralus Health Eye Care
100 Upton Road, Ithaca, NY 14850 -
Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday
Rotating Saturday hours every few weeks (with a weekday off when working Saturday) -
Travel: 0% (no travel expected)
Pay Range Disclosure:
Standard rate of $16.00 - $23.00 per hour
