Job Summary

Partnering closely with the Cayuga Health Foundation Board of Directors, the Director will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Cayuga Health Foundation. This will include the planning and effective execution of philanthropy efforts and methods to raise funds that coincide with Cayuga Health and Centralus' strategic priorities, volunteer management and special events. A special emphasis will be placed on accomplishing this through an increased cycle of philanthropic campaigns to support capital and programmatic needs. A strong focus will be placed on major gifts, customer service and interaction, as well as building relationships with friends of the Foundation, Cayuga Health System leadership, the medical and nursing staff, volunteer leadership and other members of the Centralus Health team. This includes setting and meeting all goals, implementation of strategy and programs and supporting volunteers focused on annual fund solicitations. This is achieved through multiple approaches that include, but are not limited to, direct mail, e-giving, grateful patients, commemorative giving, special appeals, grants, planned giving, events and campaigns to the hospital family (boards, physicians, employees, vendors, businesses, auxiliaries and volunteers). The Director supervises the Development Assistant and the Development Specialist Cancer Resource Center.

Job Functions

  1. Responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospective donors with the capacity and inclination to support the priorities of Cayuga Health Foundation and the Centralus Health System. Oversee all facets of the fundraising, including donor participation, giving society membership, volunteer programs, and other initiatives as part of the implementation of a strategy for increasing support. Develop, implement, monitor and analyze strategic fundraising plans and assist with grant-writing.
  2. Utilizes donor prospecting software to actively identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors with the ability to be a major donor. The director will develop relationships that will match donor preferences with health system needs. Set goals, monitor progress, and evaluate results.
  3. Establish and oversee volunteer committees focused on annual, employee, corporate, planned, and major giving. Oversee all facets of the annual Employee Giving Campaign. Working collaboratively with Human Resources and other departments as needed.
  4. Partner with the Marketing Department, Cayuga Health, and Foundation staff, to develop a strategic annual plan for engagement of stakeholders in the Foundation through, but not limited to, e-mail solicitations, social media platforms, events, grateful patient programs, storytelling, planned giving, and

volunteer opportunities. Partners with marketing in the development of messaging and format/method of solicitations that integrate with and support the Foundation's established priorities

  1. Schedules and manages direct mail appeals for Cayuga Health annual fund programs.
  2. Monitor, design, and manage in-depth reporting and analysis for all Foundation initiatives. Oversee the management of a comprehensive database of donors, prospects and key constituents. Ensures all donor interactions are recorded with a plan for needed follow up.

7 Coordinate the distribution of Foundation funds in consultation with the Hospital CEO& CFO/or designee.

8 Provide staff support, professional development and executive guidance to the Foundation Board.

  1. Supervise and coordinate daily activities of direct report to ensure productivity, compliance with company policies, and achievement of performance goals; provide guidance, training, and support.
  2. Develops and maintains a Planned Giving Program.
  3. Develops, maintains and updates a strategic plan for fundraising for Cayuga Health Foundation.
  4. Prepares annual budgets for Cayuga Health Foundation.
  5. Keeps abreast of current trends in fund raising and volunteer work through regional and national publications, meetings and seminars.
  6. Understands and adheres to HIPAA regulations regarding patient solicitation and privacy. Responsible for attending all annual mandatory educational programs as required by the position. Represents the Foundation on Cayuga Health committees.
  7. Employee understands and demonstrates the importance of satisfying the needs of the donor/customer/patient by interacting with him/her in a friendly and caring way, being attentive to the customer's needs, both mind and body, and by taking the initiative to maintain communication with the customer to provide a secure and pleasant experience with Cayuga Health.

Education / Experience Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree required. Certified Fund Raising Executive preferred.

Experience

3 years' experience required. 5 years' experience preferred in fund raising or marketing, Raisers Edge software experience a plus, excellent organizational, communication, customer service and interpersonal skills. Takes initiative and is comfortable working with multiple constituents, demonstrates the ability to meet challenging financial goals and works well in a team environment.
