Job Details

The Radiation Therapist is responsible for administering radiation therapy treatments to patients in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist and in compliance with New York State regulations. This role includes direct patient care, treatment delivery, imaging for treatment planning, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary oncology team to ensure safe, accurate, and compassionate care. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Delivers radiation therapy treatments safely and accurately in accordance with physician prescriptions and established protocols.
  • Ensures patient safety, comfort, and emotional support throughout the treatment process.
  • Prepares, positions, and monitors patients during treatment using appropriate equipment and accessories.
  • Operates radiation therapy equipment while maintaining radiation protection standards for patients, self, and others.
  • Reviews and verifies treatment orders for accuracy; communicates with physicians to clarify or modify orders as needed.
  • Maintains continuous audio and visual monitoring of patients during treatment.
  • Adheres to all safety, emergency, and disaster preparedness protocols.
  • Assists with patient transport and mobility while following established safety procedures.
  • Completes accurate and timely documentation, billing, and charting related to treatments, simulations, and appointments.  Communicates appointment changes and treatment updates clearly to patients and care team members.
  • Maintains treatment and simulation rooms, equipment, and supplies in a clean, organized, and ready state.
  • Participates in quality assurance, performance improvement activities, and required safety checks, including radiation monitoring and eyewash testing.

 

Position Requirements and Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiation Therapy.

Licensure / Certification

  • Current New York State license in Radiation Therapy.
  • Registered Radiation Therapist (ARRT).
  • Maintains 24 Category A CME credits every two (2) years in accordance with ARRT requirements.

Experience

Minimum of one (1) year of hospital-based experience preferred.



Salary Range

USD $64.55 - USD $64.55 /Hr.



This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
