About Dr. Kristine Kenning

Dr. Kristine Kenning is a board-certified, minimally invasive surgeon specializing in colon and rectal surgery. She earned her medical degree from UConn School of Medicine, completed her residency at Virginia Commonwealth University, and her fellowship at Albany Medical Center. Dr. Kenning specializes in laparoscopic and robotic surgery, with clinical expertise in diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease, colon and rectal cancer, and anorectal disease.

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nurse Practitioner to support Dr. Kenning in a busy colorectal surgery practice. This role focuses on patient assessment, care coordination, EMR management, and patient education to ensure high-quality, continuity-driven care for both new and established patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including detailed health histories and physical examinations for new and established patients
  • Document thorough and accurate progress notes on behalf of the physician, ensuring compliance with clinical and regulatory standards
  • Oversee and manage the EPIC EMR in-basket for both the provider and self, including:
    • Reviewing diagnostic and lab results
    • Communicating results to patients
    • Placing orders for diagnostic testing as appropriate
  • Communicate with patients and families to provide education on newly diagnosed or chronic conditions, including:
    • Colon and rectal cancer
    • Ostomy care
    • Treatment plans and medications
  • Coordinate care with surgeons, nursing staff, ostomy nurses, care coordinators, and other providers to ensure seamless continuity of care
  • Assist the physician with patient call-backs and follow-up communications

Qualifications

  • Licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP) in good standing
  • Prior experience in surgery, colorectal, GI, or oncology preferred
  • Strong clinical documentation and EMR skills (EPIC experience preferred)
  • Excellent communication and patient education skills

 

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Work closely with a highly specialized and respected colorectal surgeon
  • Be part of a patient-centered practice focused on minimally invasive care

Salary Range

USD $69.54 - USD $93.00 /Hr.
