This non-profit hospital features three centers of excellence: Maternal/Child services, Orthopedics and Rehabilitation. St. Charles also offers services in general surgery, colon/rectal surgery, bariatric surgery, neurosurgery, ENT, pediatrics, diagnostic imaging, emergency medicine, epilepsy, stroke care, Female Pelvic Floor Disorders Center, and a nationally accredited Sleep Disorders Center.


Job Details

Operates magnetic resonance (MR) equipment to obtain images for use by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of pathologies. Performs MRI procedures in accordance with established professional and departmental standards and procedures. Operates MR scanner and peripheral equipment, prepares scan room, supplies, and medications. Prepares and enters written documentation as required by the department. This individual has direct patient contact with the following age groups:  Infant; Pediatric; Adolescent; Adult and Geriatric                                                                                                                                            

Responsibilities:

  • Selects and operates MRI and support equipment, manually selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
  • Performs MRI procedures according to department protocols.
  • Prepares contrast media for administration.
  • Practices sterile techniques as required and observes infection control procedures.
  • Responsible for the correct identification of patients
  • Assists physicians in performance of examinations.
  • Maintains orderliness and cleanliness.

Requirements:

Education:

  • High School graduation or equivalent required. Graduate of approved school of Radiologic Technology or equivalent.
  • Must have certifications from The American Registry of Radiologic Technology, one being R.T. (R). Advanced MRI certification preferred.

 

Licensure/Certification:

  • Must have certifications from The American Registry of Radiologic Technology, one being R.T. (R). Advanced MR certification preferred. Must be licensed by the state of New York.
  • Certified to inject and start IV for contrast injections required
  • BLS certification required
  • Maintains the recommended CME by the ARRT.

 

Skills:

  • Knowledge of Radiographic and MRI equipment. Will be required to work with ionizing radiation producing and Magnetic Resonance (MR) equipment, computers and other medical equipment and communication devices. Specialized training in MRI Technology and cross-sectional anatomy.

Experience:

  • Preferred at least 2 years’ experience as a x-ray tech, with some MRI knowledge/clinical training


Salary Range

USD $64.55 - USD $64.55 /Hr.

The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
