Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is the nation's largest youth employment program, connecting NYC youth between the ages of 16 and 24 with career exploration opportunities and paid work experience each summer.

Through SYEP, participants can explore different interests and career pathways; develop productive workplace habits, engage in learning experiences that strengthen their social, civic, and leadership skills.

STATEMENT OF THE JOB

Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Project Facilitator II is responsible to assist in the development and implementation of all aspects of the Program including coordination of staff; program/site compliance with the agency, regulatory agencies, the NYC DYCD and the NYC DOH in regard to programming, safety, program and community relations. The agency has embraced the concept of a fully integrated system of care for all consumers of service. This requires that all Agency staff assess the client’s needs holistically and see it as their responsibility to connect the client with services need – internal or external to the agency, regardless of the door through which the consumer enters the system. The Project Facilitator reports to the Unit Manager.

  • Maintain regulatory compliance with the NYC DYCD and other entities as required e.g. NYS DOL.
  • Collaborate with school administration on a daily basis.
  • Coordinate assignments to Site Monitors.
  • Order, prepare and maintain needed materials for daily operation.
  • Represent the program and agency professionally at all times in the school, community, at agency and public forums.
  • Plan special projects and events and focus on community service and community connectivity.
  • Maintain agency and DYCD policies and procedures at all times to ensure the safety and well-being of the participants; ensure respectful communication with parents, worksites, funder monitors and guest speakers/presenters; ensure respectful treatment of Agency property and other facilities used for program ; maintain equipment and supplies inventory.
  • Participate in the participant registration process to completion; maintain complete folders on children (health parental contact information, incident reports).
  • Assist in the implementation of workforce curriculums for student and/or parents as assigned.
  • Assist in and ensure completion of all attendance and participant data related to the program/funder/Agency requirements and program evaluation.
  • Assist Manager in the scheduling and coordination of staff.
  • Help to plan staff orientations and meetings; and staff trainings as required to meet regulatory and agency standards.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree in human services field preferred. High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum five years’ experience in direct service with youth and young adults.
  • Ability to conceptualize and implement a program design in keeping with Agency/funder requirements, as well as meet the needs of the young adults.
  • Ability to lift boxes (up to 40 lbs.) and reorganize physical space as needed.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including some evenings and Saturdays.
  • Ability to travel with children and youth throughout community.
  • Ability to travel to program, meeting, and conference locations throughout the five boroughs as needed.
