The Suuk Sarak Site Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing after-school and summer programs for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade. This role ensures children and families receive comprehensive, high-quality services that support working parents and promote academic, social, and cultural development. The Site Manager manages daily operations, staff supervision, program implementation, and compliance with all applicable local, state, federal, and grant regulations.
This position directly supports the mission of the Catawba Nation by providing quality childcare and enrichment services, while adhering to policies outlined in the Catawba Indian Nation (CIN) Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual.
Essential Functions
An individual in this role must be able to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation:
Program Leadership & Implementation
Plan and deliver a variety of after-school and summer programs, including academic enrichment, arts and crafts, recreation, health and wellness, leadership, and character development.
Implement Boys & Girls Club curriculum and ensure programs meet high standards of quality and relevance.
Plan, organize, and execute daily activities and special events to foster a structured, engaging environment.
Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and children.
Conduct meetings with parents regarding progress and performance of children.
Provide effective counseling and guidance to children and parents while maintaining a safe, supportive learning environment.
Participate in marketing events, campaigns, and community outreach to promote programs.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
Ensure all licensing requirements are met in accordance with South Carolina State standards.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date child and staff files in compliance with state licensing standards.
Keep the facility inspection-ready at all times, meeting health, safety, and quality standards.
Emphasize achievement of program goals through grants management and reporting.
Maintain ServeSafe Manager and DOT certifications and ensure program adherence to USDA Nutritional Standards.
Operations & Fiscal Oversight
Manage daily operations of the Suuk Sarak facility, including multiple classrooms and programs.
Maintain a safe, clean, and attractive facility conducive to learning.
Monitor and reconcile program budgets, balancing expenditures while maintaining quality services.
Continuously seek opportunities to reduce expenses without compromising service quality.
Staff Leadership & Development
Supervise a team of 5–11 staff members, including hiring, training, and performance management.
Support staff through individualized professional growth plans and monitor progress toward goals.
Clearly communicate organizational standards, guidelines, and policies to staff.
Model professional leadership and instructional skills to foster a positive, high-performing team culture.

QualificationsQualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Must be at least 21 years old per South Carolina licensing requirements.
Valid driver’s license with a clean record; insurable under the Tribe’s insurance policy.
One of the following education/experience pathways:
Associate’s degree and 6+ months of experience in a licensed childcare facility or
Child development diploma or CDA credential and 1+ year of experience in a licensed childcare facility or
High school diploma/GED and ECD 101 with 3 years’ experience in a licensed childcare facility (including 1 year in staff supervision).
Desirable Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in after-school or summer program management.
1+ year of supervisory or management experience.
Strong knowledge of USDA Nutritional Standards for Schools.
Knowledge of education standards, licensing regulations, and OSHA/fire/health requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong understanding of childhood education principles and best practices.
Knowledge of cultural education and its application to programs.
Experience in team leadership and advancing learning outcomes.
Organizational and problem-solving skills to assist in daily site operations.
Excellent communication, counseling, and mentoring skills with children and families.
Cultural sensitivity and commitment to the values, traditions, and needs of the Catawba community.
Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and to be onsite during program operations.
Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and culturally respectful environment.
Must maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Maintain effective, confidential, professional, and courteous working relationships and demeanor with other employees and the public always.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software as needed.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their hands for a variety of tasks, reach with hands and arms, bend, and stand for extended periods. This includes bending to open or access lower drawers and cabinetry. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must also be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
