Job Description 

Position:             Massage Therapist      

Department:       Hotel Operations/Spa

Job Summary:   Provides quality, professional service administering massage and body treatments to Spa guests.

Duties and Responsibilities (specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):

1. Keeps a positive attitude at all times.
2. Assists guests with Spa tours, escorts to treatment rooms, and provides general information and directions.
3. Administers massage and body treatments to Spa guests.
4. Analyzes guest needs and adjusts treatment as needed.
5. Explains to guests their service and the reasons for the prescribed treatment; suggests home care options.
6. Promotes add-on services.
7. Prepares and maintains inventory of the massage and body treatment products according to departmental policy and procedures.
8. Notifies supervisor if equipment is broken and needs repair or replacement.
9. Sterilizes and sanitizes all instruments and areas in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
10. Maintains standard treatment times and notifies Spa desk personnel about any upgrades or changes to treatments.
11. Maintains standard levels for supplies and linens in the treatment rooms according to departmental policies, procedures, and standards.
12. Ensures a pleasant visit for each guest by maintaining professional level of communication and behavior.
13. Addresses inappropriate guest behavior in a professional manner; refers situations that are difficult to resolve to a supervisor.
14. Promotes and sells Spa product lines by using a prescription pad; maintains established quarterly standards.
15. Produces a daily report of treatments performed and any retails sales.
16. Utilizes the Spa software program as necessary.
17. Checks the appointment schedule after every treatment.
18. Uses only specific amounts of professional products and advises the supervisor when products are getting low.
19. Assists with maintaining laundry levels in treatment rooms and back stock.
20. Assists in keeping all areas neat and clean by performing tasks such as picking up towels, cleaning lounge areas, and picking up cups and dishes.
21. Participates in cross-training for housekeeping duties, locker room maintenance, fitness center maintenance, retail maintenance, and desk operations.
22. Assists with moving laundry between the Spa and Laundry.
23. Keeps personal treatment area to standard when not performing services.
24. Assists other team members when necessary.
25. Passes all treatment inspections successfully.
26. Passes all retail sales goals successfully.
27. Attends departmental and Entertainment Enterprise Division (EED) meetings as required.
28. Participates in continuing education programs and training to stay up-to-date with procedures, protocols, treatments, and industry trends.
29. Maintains Arizona State licensing and certifications current.
30. Maintains a flexible shift schedule and advises supervisor about any changes.
31. Follows established safety and security policies and procedures including reporting accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions immediately to a supervisor.
32. Completes safety training and keeps certifications current
33. Maintains confidentiality of proprietary information; protects EED assets.
34. Performs special projects delegated by the supervisor.
35. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

1. Knowledge of massage therapies.
2. Knowledge of departmental and EED policies, standards, and procedures as well as applicable laws and regulations.

7. Ability to learn new techniques in the spa industry.
8. Ability to work effectively and efficiently at all times, but especially during peak periods.

10. Ability to understand and follow through on written or verbal instructions.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High school or General Equivalency Diploma AND current Arizona State license with a minimum of 500 hours in an accredited massage therapy school.
2. Must successfully pass service performance interview requirement.
3. Must either possess or obtain valid cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification within three (3) months of employment.
4. Demonstrated track record of reliability, responsiveness, and creativity.
5. Demonstrated track record of providing excellent guest service.
6. Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, special events, and overtime, as needed.
7. Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
8. Must be able to obtain, maintain, and retain a valid non-gaming license

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Two (2) years of demonstrated success in a hotel/resort environment.
2. Bilingual (English/Spanish).
