About this role

The Lifeguard Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily aquatic safety operations and managing the team of lifeguards at one or more Carnival Corporation owned and operated global destination. This role is part of the operations team and ensures that aquatic areas are safe, clean, and enjoyable for all visitors. The Lifeguard Supervisor coordinates and supervises lifeguard activities, monitors performance to uphold operational standards, and maintains active surveillance of pools, beaches, and other water areas to ensure safety policies are enforced and followed by all guests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Team Leadership & Management 

  • Assist the Lifeguard Manager in directing and administering the lifeguard team.
  • Supervise lifeguards, ensuring adherence to rules, regulations, and operational standards.
  • Conduct scheduling, onboarding, training, coaching, and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Act as shift leader, monitoring breaks, rotations, and communication.
  • Lead daily stand-up meetings to prepare, engage, and motivate the team.

2. Guest & Aquatic Safety Oversight 

  • Provide direct supervision of all aquatic areas, enforcing safety rules and monitoring swimmers.
  • Administer first aid, emergency care, and coordinate rescue efforts when necessary.
  • React calmly and immediately to emergencies, directing the team to ensure guest safety.
  • Promote a safety culture within the lifeguard team and ensure compliance with training and StarGuard Elite safety regulations.
  • Test slides and other equipment to ensure operational safety before opening.

3. Operational Monitoring & Reporting

  • Ensure accurate completion and maintenance of daily logs, checklists, and reports.
  • Monitor lifeguard performance, attendance, and professionalism, acting as a role model at all times.
  • Recommend improvements in operations, staffing, policies, training, and procedures.

4. Additional Duties 

  • Assist the Lifeguard Manager with other tasks as requested.
  • Support operational needs or special projects beyond standard responsibilities.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience is required; additional education in Hospitality or a related field is a plus 
  • Internationally recognized lifeguard certification 
  • Lifeguard Instructor certification preferred 
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience working in a water safety environment, such as a hotel, resort, or similar setting.

SKILLS & SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Previous guest-facing and customer service experience in a similar role required.
  • Ability to effectively lead and manage diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in all essential lifeguard skills, including emergency response and water safety procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and working familiarity with computer business applications, including accounting and payroll systems.
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fluency in conversational English and ability to communicate clearly with guests and team members.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

PHYSICIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be physically fit. 
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment as needed.
  • May need to stand for long periods of time.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to multitask effectively. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with data entry and reporting tools.
  • Detail orientated with a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to multi-task and think critically
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Strong planning and coordination skills, especially in handling multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • May be requested to work a shift schedule while at any of the destinations.
