We are currently hiring a Research Associate I to join the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon. This position will be responsible for assisting in the development and execution of research projects, including experiment design, analysis of data collected and writing up experiment results.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to the execution of a sponsored research project

  • Implementing and coding research ideas for new papers

  • Running baselines, experiments, and evaluations

  • Conducting original research and helping with development of new methods.

  • Collaborating closely with faculty, graduate students, and research staff

  • Interacting with the industry sponsors and providing technical updates.

  • Other duties as assigned.

You should demonstrate:

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong data collection and analysis experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 1-3 years of research lab experience

  • 1-3 years of research methodology experience

  • A combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

  • Sponsorship: Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work for CMU in the United States. CMU will not sponsor or take over the sponsorship of an employment visa for this opportunity.  Carnegie Mellon is not a qualifying employer for the STEM OPT benefit: only the 12-month OPT may be used to work at Carnegie Mellon.
