The Software and Societal Systems (S3D) department within the School of Computer Science explores the vital intersection of the confluence of software, systems and society to understand how computational biology might better serve humanity. We are studying the bigger picture of computing in context in order to develop tools, policies, methods, and much more – all in the same making the world a safer, more equitable, better place to call home.

We are looking for a Research Assistant for 4 months until May 2026. This position will help with engineering work on a research project, and will work on building infrastructure for experiments and building the analysis and optimizer steps under supervision of a PhD student.

Core Responsibilities Include:

  • Play with the proof-of-concept command-line tool to generate specifications from prompts
  • Implement commands for specification driven synthetic data generation
  • Building infrastructure for experiments and building the analysis and optimizer
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and/or Software Engineering; Master's Preferred
  • Experience in building software infrastructure.
  • Good experience in data generation and commands.
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
