About this role

Carlisle Construction Materials, a worldwide leading diversified manufacturer of premium building products and related technology, has an immediate opening at the Greenville, IL location for a dayshift Traffic Coordinator! 

 

Primary Function:

Facilitate timely delivery of Carlisle products to roofing customers by coordinating with customer service representatives, scheduling shipments with various carriers, and preparing transportation documents.

 

Duties:

  • (30%) Schedule shipments with various carriers for truckload, less-than-truckload (LTL), small package, and specialized service by monitoring the delivery due list in SAP, picking orders to ship, and scheduling the means of transport.
  • (25%) Communicate with customer service representatives and transportation schedulers to meet customers’ expectations for delivery, provide freight quotes as needed, and serve as primary contact in problem resolution.
  • (10%) Print necessary shipping documents and labels. Calculate and print international custom invoices as needed.
  • (15%) Assist with cycle counting, inventory control, and warehouse management activities.
  • (20%) Other duties:
    • Assist with daily switchboard coverage as needed.
    • Assist with planning and executing company functions and special events.
    • Provide coverage for Payroll Administrator as needed.
    • Review and approve freight invoices and vendor invoices.
    • Back up Receiving on SAP-based functions.
    • Miscellaneous administration functions.

 

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to read and comprehend a variety of written forms and materials
  • Communication: Verbal, written, and typed; correct spelling and grammar
  • Software: SAP, Outlook, Excel, and basic computer knowledge
  • Math: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, percentages
  • Knowledge of carriers, shipping terminology, and procedures
  • Knowledge of Carlisle products
  • Knowledge of inventory tracking and control methods
  • Hazardous material training
  • Knowledge of international shipping procedures

  • Equipment: computer, keyboard, mouse, calculator, copier, printer, multi-line phone system
  • Materials: small package products
  • Data used: Shipping Orders, Bills of Lading
  • Interaction with others: Customer Service Representatives, Production Supervisors, Shipping Team Leader and crew, carrier dispatchers/schedulers, truck drivers, customers, Production Schedulers

 

Work Environment:

  • Office environment
  • May require walking between manufacturing plant and distribution center
  • Can be high-pressure and stressful at times
  • Occasionally required to manage challenging interactions with drivers
  • Requires flexibility to handle last-minute load changes

 

Time Worked:

  • Hours of the day: 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Overtime may be required.
  • Days of the week: Monday – Friday. Saturday work may be required.
  • Shifts worked: Daylight

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting up to 50 LB.
  • Note: much of the work is done by telephone and computer.

Educational Requirements:

  • Education: Associate’s degree in Business or a related field
  • Equivalency: High School diploma/GED with 3-5 years of prior traffic experience

 

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of prior traffic experience preferred
