About this role

Job Summary:

The MDP Analytical Engineer II is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing data solutions using Databricks SQL and the business intelligence platforms to generate regulatory reporting and extracts for the organization. This role focuses on transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive business decisions, ensuring data quality, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver effective analytical solutions. The engineer will leverage their knowledge in SQL to create robust data models, reports, and dashboards that meet organizational needs.

Essential Functions:

  • Design and implement data solutions using Databricks SQL and PowerBI to support business intelligence initiatives
  • Develop and optimize data models, queries, and reports within the Databricks environment to ensure high performance and reliability
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand regulatory analytical requirements and translate them into technical specifications
  • Create and maintain dashboards and visualizations that provide actionable insights to stakeholders
  • Ensure data quality and integrity by implementing best practices for data governance and validation
  • Work closely with data engineering teams to integrate data from various sources into the Databricks platform
  • Conduct performance tuning and optimization of SQL queries and data pipelines to enhance efficiency
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members and stakeholders on Databricks SQL and business intelligence tools
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies related to data analytics and business intelligence
  • Perform any other job duties as requested

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Three (3) years of experience in data analytics or engineering roles, with a focus on Databricks and SQL
  • Proven experience in developing and optimizing data solutions using Databricks SQL and the Databricks business intelligence platform

Competencies, Knowledge and Skills:

Required:

  • Databricks SQL Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Databricks SQL coding, including the ability to write complex queries and optimize performance
  • Business Intelligence Tools: Proficiency in using the Databricks business intelligence platform, or Power BI, to create reports and dashboards that drive business insights
  • Data Modeling: Strong skills in designing and implementing data models that support analytical requirements and enhance data accessibility
  • Data Analysis and Mining: Proficiency in data analysis and mining techniques, including the ability to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies within large datasets to inform strategic decisions
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex data sets and provide actionable insights to support business decision-making

Preferred:

  • Problem-Solving: Demonstrated accountability in solving complex problems with minimal guidance, utilizing critical thinking and analytical skills to develop effective solutions
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Data Governance: Knowledge of data governance best practices and experience in implementing data quality measures
  • Leading and Lagging Indicators: Knowledge of leading and lagging indicators, with the ability to guide stakeholders in their development, ensuring that metrics effectively measure performance and drive strategic initiatives
  • Healthcare Knowledge: Demonstrated expertise in one of the following domains - Operations (claims management, enrollment, grievance & appeals, provider relations), Clinical (case management, utilization management, pharmacy management, quality/HEDIS), or Finance (financial management, value-based reimbursement, continuous improvement) within a healthcare setting

Licensure and Certification:

  • Databricks Certified Data Analyst or other relevant certifications in data analytics or business intelligence are preferred

Working Conditions:

  • General office environment; may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time

Compensation Range:

$72,200.00 - $115,500.00

CareSource takes into consideration a combination of a candidate’s education, training, and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required for the role, and other external and internal data when establishing a salary level. In addition to base compensation, you may qualify for a bonus tied to company and individual performance.
