R&D Program Manager

 

The R&D Program Manager is primarily responsible for organizing, optimizing and driving large, multi-team software development programs within our organization.  The main task is to effectively run the development programs which are vital for the organization’s strategic direction, as well as creating and working towards long term goals.  Successful driving of large development programs requires high collaboration from team level to leadership level right across the organization - both within R&D and Product Management but also with stakeholders from other functions.  The R&D Program Manager needs to be able to grasp the big picture but also able to zoom in to the details.  Flexibility is required in order to work with the broad variety of matters that arise on the program on a day-to-day basis. The R&D Program Manager is a highly skilled professionals who help organizations stay on schedule, on scope and ultimately on an upward trajectory towards success and growth.

 

R&D Program Manager work closely with a broad variety of people and works as an Agile Coach, working with others to optimize the ways of working from team level up to the program management level and beyond.  The R&D Program Manager is actively seeking to improve the working culture on the program by, amongst other things, leading by example, modelling desired behaviour and living out the Scrum values (commitment, focus, openness, respect, courage). The R&D Program Manager is an active member in defining and driving global development processes.

 

As part of our team, your main responsibilities will be: 

  • Organising, optimising and driving large software development programs over multiple R&D teams, keeping a careful eye on the program set-up, structure, team dynamics and supporting collaboration across teams.
  • Actively solving impediments all across the organization to make the program successful.
  • Lead and improve a variety of program get-togethers that are to serve the goals of the program, e.g. Demos, All-hands sessions, PI planning, Steering meetings etc.   Ensure that every session is prepared, the purpose of the session is clear and that the necessary follow-up takes place
  • Ensure that our backlog processes are functioning as intended, that they are serving our purposes and that there is good collaboration between Product Management, R&D and UX. Drive forward refinement work in order that we are prepared for PI planning rounds. Provide transparency and predictability to product development and keep your finger on the pulse in terms of the status and the potential implications for the next PI.  Driving the development streams to fulfil release targets.
  • Initiate and drive forward improvement initiatives on the program e.g. initiatives that help us scale, distribute knowledge, improve our ways of working. Additionally, encourage others to initiate other improvement goals.
  • Agile coaching across the program and beyond – working with people where they are, sparring over ideas, providing feedback, encouraging feedback in general and mentoring.
  • Communication on all levels - keeping all stakeholders informed about the progress and key program milestones. Ensuring the communication travels to who it needs to reach. 
  • Participate in harmonizing the development practices across the other development programs.  Contributes to company wide communities and initiatives

  • Experience in test automation and CI/CD pipeline
  • Experience in Healthcare/pharma business domain
