About this role

We Energies, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Tech - Elec Testing (North) in our Iron Mountain, Michigan location. This position is represented by We Energies L2150 Union.

Job Responsibilities

 

The Tech - Elec Testing (North) position is responsible for:

 

Responsible for original evaluation, installation, start-up, programming/coordination, calibration, and repair of System Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA), protective relay systems, instrumentation and power production/delivery related equipment.  This is required for the safe, efficient, reliable operation of power plants, bulk power substations, and distribution stations.  This includes distribution automation, power plant control, and electric system metering.  This position performs initial evaluation and testing of all new system-protective relay systems and SCADA equipment to ensure proper function prior to start-up.  In addition, maintains instrument/relay test procedures and records/database for the WE system. Other special projects and miscellaneous duties as assigned may result in scheduled and unscheduled overtime due to workload and system emergencies. 

Minimum Qualifications

 

 

  • The applicant must have a two-year associate degree in electronics technology 


OR

 

  • A minimum of 60 credits of college coursework from an accredited institution, with a minimum of 35 credits in electrical engineering/electronics.
  • Applicant must have a valid driver's license and meet the company's requirements for driving.
  • This position may require unescorted access to certain critical cyber assets which would require applicants to satisfy all company and NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection Standard 004 security requirements, which includes a background investigation.

 

The selected applicant for PG Hydro Electric Operations positions must reside within 30 driving miles of Wolverine Service Center in Iron Mountain, MI Employee will be required to relocate to meet this residency requirement within 18 months from date of physical transfer.

Testing Requirements

 

Technician Selection System (TECH)-Technician level: Ability to use numerical information presented in drawings, prints, and graphs to solve arithmetic problems, ability to use symbols and codes to locate objects on a map, comprehension of pictured mechanical principles, and the ability to read, apply rules and make decisions based upon written information. Suggested Preparation: Review of basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, decimals, fractions, etc.

 

Electron Test:Measures the electronics knowledge and skills required for maintenance jobs. Suggested Preparation: Review of electronic theory including digital electronics, analog electronics, relay logic, power supplies, and computer & PLC.

End Date: 02/02/2026

 

Minimum Posting Range:  $37.08 

Maximum Posting Range:  $61.77 

 

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs.  At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
