MAJOR GIFTS MANAGER

Role Overview

The Major Gifts Manager plays a critical role in enabling CARE’s Major Gifts fundraising by partnering closely with fundraisers to strengthen donor engagement, improve portfolio performance, and ensure high-quality stewardship of major donors.

This role sits at the intersection of donor strategy, portfolio management, and operational execution. The Manager ensures that donor outreach is well-planned, donor data is accurate and actionable, and fundraising efforts are supported by clear materials, tracking, and follow-through. Success in this role directly contributes to CARE’s ability to deepen donor relationships and grow philanthropic revenue.

 Key Responsibilities

Partner with Relationship Managers to Advance Donor Strategies

• Work alongside Major Gifts Relationship Managers to support the planning and execution of donor engagement strategies across assigned portfolios.
• Help prepare donor briefings, outreach plans, proposals, and follow-up materials to ensure donor interactions are timely, thoughtful, and aligned with CARE’s priorities.
• Support Relationship Managers in tracking donor movement, next steps, and pipeline progress.

Strengthen Portfolio Management & Pipeline Tracking

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records, portfolio assignments, and activity tracking in Salesforce.
• Support portfolio and pipeline management by monitoring donor activity, deadlines, and key milestones.
• Assist with reporting and analysis to help the team assess progress against fundraising goals.

Coordinate Campaigns & Complex Gift Activity

• Support the coordination of major gifts campaigns and targeted fundraising initiatives.
• Assist with the stewardship and tracking of complex gifts, including donor-advised funds, stock gifts, and family foundation support, in collaboration with internal partners.
• Ensure that donor intent and internal processes are properly documented and followed.

Draft Donor-Facing and Internal Communications

• Draft donor correspondence, briefings, proposals, and internal summaries that reflect CARE’s voice and standards.
• Help ensure that donor communications are clear, accurate, and aligned with relationship strategies.

Cross-Team Collaboration

• Work closely with colleagues across Philanthropy, Finance, and Operations to support smooth coordination of donor activity and reporting.
• Serve as a reliable operational partner to ensure fundraising efforts move forward efficiently and accurately.
