About this role

HealthPartners is hiring a Finance and Analysis Manager. They are responsible for overseeing financial analysis, service line reporting and other financial reporting. Works with all levels of staff within the organization with regard to strategic business initiatives including systems implementation, operational projects, and financial reporting enhancements, designed to improve operational financial results.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Corporation

  1. Manages the timely capture and reporting of financial data and communicates information to other departments.
  2. Works with service line leaders to develop and analyze budget and financial performance
  3. Reports quarterly objectives and key process measures for the administrative division of HealthPartners.
  4. Performs additional duties as directed by senior management
  5.  

Management

  1. Manages design, development, and implementation of operations and system projects.
  2. Oversees the planning and implementation of team efforts.
  3. Assists in developing and implementing updates financial systems.
  4. Assists in developing and reporting service line budgets.
  5. Initiates problem-solving discussions with management staff and leadership in regard to relevant business issues.
  6. Manages changes and continuous quality improvement for the department.
  7. Regularly communicates with direct reports and staff on changes in priorities, policies and operations.
  8. Reports monthly financial results
  9. Develops appropriate relationships with Finance & Accounting department staff and leaders to effectively transfer information between departments. 

Supervision

Responsible for the supervision of staff, including having the authority to hire, transfer, lay off, promote, discipline and discharge, train, reward and review performance of employees. Ensures compliance to organizational and departmental policies and procedures.

  1. Maintains an awareness of latest technology, trends, and developments in managed care, patient accounting, customer service and other related health care industry initiatives.
  2. Develops and communicates a personal career development plan.
  3. Maintains membership and participates in professional organizations.
  4. Participates in formal continuing education programs.


 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, public health or health care administration and/or five years of finance experience.
  2. Two years of experience supervising staff.
  3. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and AR management techniques.
  4. Detailed knowledge and understanding of the healthcare industry, including customer expectations on service and cost containment.
  5. Advanced project management skills and demonstrated experience managing projects on time and on budget.
  6. Demonstrates effective leadership skills.
  7. Advanced problem-solving skills to work independently with minimal or no direction.
  8. Exceptional skills utilizing one or more software packages: Excel, Access, Monarch, QMS or other decision support systems.
  9. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  10. Concise and accurate written communication skills.
  11. Excellent oral presentation skills and the ability to lead group discussions.
  12. Demonstrated skill in planning, organizing and time management.
  13. Ability to assess employee needs and solve human resources related performance problems.
  14. Advanced analytical ability to assess situations and choose cost-effective solutions.
  15. Ability to conduct research, analyze, interpret and communicate results.
  16. Ability to work well with ambiguity and continuous change.
     

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, public health or health care administration.
  2. Big 4 or other consulting experience.

MAJOR CHALLENGES:

  1. Delivering exceptional customer service within budget constraints.
  2. Evaluating the business impact of operational decisions and development opportunities.
  3. Communicating of data and results to physicians and leaders who have lessor financial acumen.
  4. Resolving issues when accountable parties are difficult to identify.
  5. Managing goals, objectives and strategies while priorities are in flux.
     

DECISION-MAKING:

  1. Makes daily decisions on priorities, human resources issues, and work effort for direct reports and their teams.
  2. Reviews policy changes with the Director.
  3. Recommends expenditures for staffing and miscellaneous expenditures to the Director.
