SUMMARY (Basic Purpose of the Job)

Supervisors radiology support clerk staff. Oversees daily operations, training schedules, orders all necessary supplies. Completes all evaluations and competencies required. Orders all necessary supplies at radiology front desks. Performs a variety of clerical tasks which supports various diagnostic imaging services. Provides overall support service functions according to radiology practice standards to ensure optimal department functions. Resolves requests for release of radiology records according to radiology practice standards to ensure customer satisfaction.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:High school diploma or GED.

Experience:Two years previous related experience required. Previous experience in a medical related field with medical terminology and human anatomy coursework, preferred. Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Other Credentials:AHA BLS. Non-Licensed must obtain before end of orientation period

Knowledge and Skills:Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organization skills. Strong customer service skills. Intermediate computer skills.

Special Training:

Mental, Behavioral and Emotional Abilities:Possesses ability to proficiently function in a fast-paced patient-focused department.

Reporting Relationships

If set to YES, then this position has the authority (delegated) to hire, terminate, discipline, promote or effectively recommend such to manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Supervises all radiology support clerks at both campuses and all other areas of radiology. Assists in the hiring and training of new and existing staff. Completes competencies and evaluations per Capital Health policies. Maintains daily work schedules. Processes payroll in a timely fashion.
  • Maintains daily schedule and trains staff on new IT systems. Oversees ordering processes and their acquisitions.
  • Executes prompt retrieval of radiology reports for review by authorized individuals, inclusive of faxing reports. Helps facilitate multi-study patients between modalities. Ensures unit is appropriately stocked with the necessary forms and supplies.
  • Serves as a contact for visitors and callers. Greets and announces visitors and notifies appropriate staff member. Facilitates the movement of patients into and out of the department. Coordinates with patient transport as needed.
  • Answers and screens telephone calls and takes accurate messages. Responds to inquiries from callers and visitors or refers to department staff.
  • Accesses PACS and accurately identifies patients studies. Prints images, or burns CDRs from PACS on a timely basis. Copies records and other information as needed. Sorts and distributes department mail as it arrives.
  • Interacts appropriately with customers via telephone and in person to gather and obtain appropriate information relating to exam including insurance information, referrals, and prescriptions.
  • Orders imaging examinations per physician orders on a timely basis. Ensures accurate documentation of exam information. Ensures proper physician information entered.
  • Assists manager with identifying department goals and supports the culture of the organization. Supports department performance improvement initiatives.
  • Adheres to Radiology attendance policy as well as interdepartmental policies and procedures.
  • Attends meetings and gives status reports of all department activity to manager.
