This role will support the Capital Medical Group's Neuroscience, Behavioral Health, and Pain Management areas.
The Director, Practice Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for assigned service line(s) or departmental areas, ensuring effective, efficient, and compliant operations that support Capital Health’s mission, vision, and values. This role oversees all administrative, operational, and financial functions within the assigned scope, including staff management, resource allocation, and performance improvement. The Director, Practice Operations partners with clinical and physician leadership to drive access, quality, patient experience, and financial performance. This position serves as a key operational leader, ensuring coordination of services, optimization of workflows, and continuous improvement across all functions within the assigned service line or department.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic and Operational Leadership
Provides operational and administrative leadership for all assigned areas within the designated service line or department. • Partners with executive and clinical leadership to develop and implement business plans, growth strategies, and performance goals aligned with system priorities. • Develops, implements, and monitors standardized workflows, policies, and operating procedures that promote efficiency and quality. • Oversees daily operations to ensure effective service delivery, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and optimal utilization of resources. • Leads process improvement initiatives using data-driven methodologies to enhance access, quality, and productivity.
Team Development
Directly supervises managers, supervisors, and administrative staff within assigned areas. • Recruits, develops, and retains high-performing staff; fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth. • Ensures performance evaluations, in-service education, and staff development activities are completed in accordance with organizational standards. • Promotes employee engagement, effective communication, and a positive work environment consistent with Capital Health’s values.
Quality, Safety, and Patient Experience
Collaborates with clinical leadership to support delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.
Monitors performance on quality, compliance, and service standards; implements corrective actions as needed. • Partners with Quality and Compliance teams to ensure adherence to all accreditation, regulatory, and payer requirements. • Promotes initiatives that enhance the overall patient and family experience, including service recovery and feedback integration.
Program and Service Line Development
Participates in strategic planning and program development efforts to support growth and integration of services. • Leads or supports the onboarding of new programs, sites, or providers in collaboration with senior leadership. • Evaluates new business opportunities and operational models to improve performance, patient access, and sustainability. • Collaborates with Marketing and Communications to strengthen community and physician engagement.
Collaboration and Communication
Serves as the administrative liaison between operational staff, physicians, senior leadership, and external partners. • Facilitates effective communication channels across disciplines to ensure alignment of priorities and initiatives. • Represents the service line or department on internal committees, councils, and special projects. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum of 3 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations, service line management, or administrative leadership. • Demonstrated success in managing budgets, leading teams, and improving operational performance. • Experience working in a multi-site, multidisciplinary healthcare environment preferred. • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems (Athena or EPIC) preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills. • Demonstrated financial acumen and analytical ability to interpret operational metrics and drive performance. • Knowledge of healthcare operations, quality improvement, and regulatory standards.
Excellent communication, relationship management, and change management skills. • Ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on operational engagement.
