Responsible for direct nursing care of assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered NurseKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Participates in assessment of patient
Collaborates with departmental and interdisciplinary groups in developing the patient plan of care
Follows patient’s plan of care while participating in the direct nursing care to assigned patients
Adjusts care based upon age-specific physiological needs of patients as directed by the Registered Nurse or other authorized person(s)
Maintains an accurate and relevant record of patient care
Administers medication as ordered by physician
Facilitates a safe environment
Recognizes life-threatening situations and responds appropriately
Maintains required competencies
Participates in Performance Improvement activities and monitors the quality of care
Establishes collaborative interpersonal relationships with other Health System staff
Supports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of the medical regimen
Actively participates in cost containment and completes accurate charging for patient services
Actively demonstrates responsibility concerning customer satisfaction, patient throughput and hospital functional capacity through compliance with the Hospital Innovation Project (HIP), if applicable

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
High school graduate or equivalent required
Current licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Compact state licensure
Unit Scope:
The 2 East unit consists of Med-Surgical Patient population.
Our patients include both inpatient and outpatient adults and geriatric. (No Pediatrics)
Our Care team consists of a team that provides safe quality care: Registered Nurses, Certified Nurse Assistants, RN Case Managers, Medical Providers, Nurse Manager, Nurse Educator
Our PCM and Charge Nurses are available to support our clinical needs with access to education, resources, guidelines, and protocols.
Our electronic medical record is EPIC
We operate 12-hour shifts, Monday through Sunday (24/7), including after hour nights, weekend, and holiday staffing. Shift start time are 0638/1838 ad end date of 0715/1915
Staffing Ratio consists of 5-6 Patient to Nurse
Scheduling is a Every Other Weekend Requirement with Holiday Group Rotation Annually
Work Experience:
New Grads and Experience Nurses are welcome for application and interview
Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills
Verbal and written skills required
Has knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of the patients typically served
Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs
Visual acuity for observation of patients
Long periods of standing, walking, bending, and lifting
May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material
Must be able to lift 35 pounds
