About this role

About the team:

Capco is a fully independent, global management and technology consultancy. For nearly 20 years we have combined innovative thinking with deep industry knowledge to deliver business consulting, digital transformation and technology services to Finance and Energy markets. Our collaborative and efficient approach helps clients reduce costs and manage risk and regulatory change while increasing revenues. We are thinkers, innovators, and disruptors. We are small enough to care but large enough to matter

About the Job:

As a member of our Data Team, you will work across Capco’s different domains and solution offerings to help break down large problems, develop approaches and solutions using the Microsoft data ecosystem. As a Data Engineer, you will create analytics reporting and provide data-driven strategic insights, trends, and perspective to help drive transformation for our clients.

What You’ll Get to Do:

  • Translate business objectives into scalable data architectures leveraging Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Lakehouses, Data Warehouses, Pipelines, Spark, Shortcuts)

  • Define data models (star/snowflake, data vault) and patterns for batch and streaming ingestion.

  • Establish governance, security, and cost-optimized design on Azure and Fabric

  • Build robust ingestion and transformation pipelines using Fabric Data Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, PySpark/SQL in Fabric Notebooks, and Azure Data Factory / Azure Synapse where applicable

  • Develop reusable frameworks for data quality, schema management, and metadata-driven processing

  • Implement CDC, SCD, and incremental processing in Lakehouse layers

  • Curate conformed and semantic layers to power Power BI and downstream analytics

  • Collaborate with analytics teams to optimize DAX, semantic models, and performance

  • Support data science workloads with feature stores and performant query layers

  • Set up CI/CD, orchestration, observability, and cost monitoring for Fabric assets and Azure components (e.g., Git integration, deployment pipelines)

  • Enforce data governance with Microsoft Purview, security roles, and PII protection patterns

  • Lead workshops, assess current-state maturity, and propose target-state roadmaps

  • Estimate effort, manage deliverables, and communicate progress to client executives

What You’ll Bring with You:

  • 3–7+ years in data engineering with the Microsoft stack

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric components such as OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, Spark Notebooks, Shortcuts, KQL (nice to have), and Power BI integration

  • Strong proficiency in SQL (T-SQL), PySpark/Python, and data modeling for analytics.

  • Ingestion & transformation patterns (CDC, SCD, incremental ETL/ELT)

  • Performance tuning, partitioning strategies, and file formats

  • Experience with Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Synapse (or legacy SQL DW), Azure Data Factory, Azure Key Vault, Event Hub/IoT Hub (plus)

  • CI/CD and DevOps practices: Git, deployment pipelines, environment strategies

  • Excellent communication skills with client-facing experience in consulting or similar environments

  • Prior management consulting experience preferred
