Job Summary:

The primary purpose of the Respiratory Therapist (PRN) position is to participate in and oversee the care of Residents with tracheostomy/stoma as prescribed by the attending physician, consistent with accepted standards of care and within the scope of RT training and licensure.

QualificationsQualifications:

Graduation from an accredited School and a current and valid license in the applicable State
Minimum of one-year experience in a long-term or health care setting is preferred
Knowledge of current trach care treatments and dressings
Ability to read, write, and speak the English language

 

Essential Functions:

Observes, assesses, and treats Residents with trachs according to community polices, Federal, State, and local regulations
Documents assessment and all related treatments in the medical record
Consults with Director of Nurses/Attending Physician regarding changes in Residents tracheostomy care and condition
Administers medications and treatments as prescribed
Identifies and secures equipment and supplies for trach care, changing tubing and all replaceable equipment on a weekly basis
Ensures a safe environment for Resident population
Has reviewed Cantex Senior Communities Clinical Policies and Procedures for Abuse Prevention and knows the employee's responsibility to enforce it
Responsible for assuring patient/resident safety.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
