Position Overview


We are seeking an experienced Civil Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil construction projects, with a primary focus on underground utilities, earthworks, and land development. This role requires a strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and project delivery within the civil sector.


Key Responsibilities



  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for civil construction projects, including underground utilities, earthworks, and land development
  • Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to determine project requirements and scope
  • Perform quantity take-offs and pricing for labour, equipment, and materials
  • Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier pricing
  • Identify potential risks, opportunities, and value-engineering options during the estimating process
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and operations teams to ensure constructability and accurate pricing
  • Maintain and update estimating databases, cost histories, and pricing tools
  • Participate in bid reviews and support proposal submissions as required


Qualifications & Experience



  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Civil Estimator or in a similar estimating role
  • Proven experience estimating underground utilities, earthworks, and land development projects
  • Strong understanding of civil construction practices, materials, and scheduling
  • Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office applications (Excel required)
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
