Survey CAD Technician

JOB SUMMARY:
The Survey CAD Technician is responsible for supporting the survey field crews and project teams by creating and maintaining 3D models to be used by survey field crews and machine control systems. This position supports both the field personnel and project management staff through preparing construction reports such as monthly quantities, cut/fill maps, progress verification, as-built verification, material requirements, and other reports that support project documentation. The position will create these deliverables utilizing various software, including Trimble Business Center, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office Suite. Additionally, the role will lead our Drone Program, assisting with its development and implementation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Create, update, and maintain accurate 3D models for use by survey field crews and machine control systems based on design plans, survey data, and project requirements.
- Prepare construction reports and deliverables including monthly quantity reports, cut/fill maps, progress verification, as-built verification, material quantities, and other project documentation.
- Support survey field crews by providing timely, accurate models, drawings, and data required for construction operations.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to ensure models and reports reflect current site conditions and project scope.
- Perform quantity calculations and data analysis to support production tracking, cost control, and project reporting.
- Review and verify data accuracy, completeness, and consistency prior to issuing models, reports, or documentation.
- Utilize Trimble Business Center, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office Suite to create, analyze, document, and distribute project deliverables.
- Organize and maintain digital project files in accordance with company standards and project requirements.
- Work with the Construction Program Manager to organize and stand up the company’s Drone Program.
- Understand, advocate, participate in, and fully comply with Brice’s project specific safety procedures and policies.
- Travel for work-related purposes for multiple days and/or weeks, as needed to support projects (approximately 25% of the time).
- Work as a “team player” with co-workers in a respectful and supportive manner.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Perform other duties as directed.
SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS:
This position does not have supervisor responsibilities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Technical knowledge of various field construction concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Extensive knowledge with CAD modeling software, Microsoft Office Suite and PDF editing software.
- Familiarity with GPS systems, machine control systems, and late model survey equipment.
- Ability to create, read, and understand complex documents, construction plans, and specifications.
- Skill in organizing resources, establishing priorities, meeting deadlines, and general time management.
- Ability to prepare and present routine reports and correspondence related to the position for review by management.
- Strong self-motivation and work ethic; ability to work without direct supervision.
- Ability to work productively under pressure.
- Ability to actively listen and provide high quality customer service.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum one (1) year experience or more utilizing CAD software required.
- Current Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate or ability to obtain upon hire required.
- Previous experience in construction surveying, machine control operations, and civil construction projects preferred.
- Experience using Trimble GNSS Base/Rover, Robotic Total Stations, and GPS/UTS machine control preferred.
- Valid state driver’s license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Company’s Driving Policy required.
- Ability to pass drug, driving, and background screenings.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Brice Highway has a fast-paced multi-tasking office environment requiring a high degree of efficient and effective performance. At times, work is performed outside of the office at indoor and outdoor job sites. Adaptability regarding schedule and design changes and occasional overtime for immediate field support may be necessary.
