WHAT’S THE TEAM LIKE 

The Safety, Security, Compliance, and Emergency Response team ensures the safe and secure operation of Calgary International and Springbank Airports. This team plays a critical role in regulatory compliance, emergency preparedness, and operational assurance, directly impacting the airports’ efficiency and safety. Their work supports the strategic goals of the organization and ensures a safe environment for all stakeholders. 

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES   

  • Lead and continuously improve the Quality Assurance Program, ensuring full integration with the Safety Management System (SMS) and effectiveness of QA processes. 

  • Develop, maintain, and align quality policies, procedures, and documentation to regulatory standards, driving process improvements and ensuring robust document control. 

  • Oversee regulatory programs supporting airport certification, analyze audit and safety data, and collaborate to enhance procedures and mitigate risks. 

  • Conduct and coordinate internal audits and investigations, document findings, and ensure corrective actions are implemented and tracked. 

  • Foster a culture of quality and compliance through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and deliver training on quality assurance and regulatory requirements. 

  • Develop and report on KPIs related to quality, compliance, and audit outcomes. 

  • Lead the process for addressing non-compliance, monitor corrective actions, and champion continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. 

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING 

  • You’ll need to be eligible to obtain and maintain a RAIC, don’t worry – we’ll help you through this! For more details, check out: RAIC Program and Application Information 

  • Post-secondary education (minimum of a college or aviation related diploma) in a relevant discipline is required. Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. 

  • 5+ years of experience in quality assurance is required. Direct experience working within or alongside airport operations, regulatory compliance, or safety management systems (SMS) is highly preferred but not required. 

  • Working knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) and Transport Canada's TP312, ICAO Annexes and SMS Components. 

  • Proven experience in developing, implementing, and managing Quality Assurance programs, including internal audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives. 

  • Hands-on experience conducting audits for cause, routine audits, and inspections in response to incidents or regulatory triggers. 

  • As this position is considered safety-sensitive, candidates must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as part of the hiring process. 

  • The ability to obtain and maintain an AVOP (Airside Vehicle Operators Permit). 

  • This role includes driving as part of its duties; therefore, candidates will be required to provide a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a current driver’s abstract as part of the hiring process.  

WHAT ADDITIONAL SKILLS ARE AN ASSET 

  • Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Quality Auditor, ICAO SMS training, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor) would be considered an asset. 

  • Bilingual in English and French
