The Opportunity:
Team Awareness Kit (TAK) Operations Support Specialist provides operational and technical expertise in supporting mission-critical systems. The position focuses on ensuring seamless deployments, system administration and integration of TAK. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in managing TAK deployments, maintaining system reliability, and optimizing TAK to enhance situational awareness and operational decision-making.

  • Cloud Hosting Architecture: Design and implement a secure cloud hosting solution for an enterprise-grade TAK (Team Awareness Kit aka: Tactical Assault Kit) Server (latest version) capable of high availability and resilience for 20,000+ concurrent users.

  • Security Infrastructure: Maintain a security boundary that meets or exceeds FISMA High standards, including full encryption of data in transit and at rest, multi-factor authentication, and continuous monitoring aligned with NIST 800-53 Rev 5 controls.

  • Control Implementation Statements: Develop detailed control implementation statements for all applicable NIST 800-53 Rev 5 security and privacy controls, articulating the implementation, monitoring, and validation in the TAK environment.

  • Configuration Baseline: Establish, document, and maintain a secure configuration baseline for all TAK Server components, adhering to DISA STIGs, CIS Benchmarks, or equivalent best practices.

  • Identity and Access Management (IAM): Provide a robust, policy-driven IAM solution integrated with the TAK environment to manage user lifecycle, onboarding, offboarding, and role-based access.

  • Integration with Government Assets: Ensure integration with Government-furnished equipment and networks, clarifying security control responsibilities.

  • Support Model Development: Implement a comprehensive operational support model, including Tier 2/3 technical support for incident response, routine maintenance, and patch management.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Deliver detailed system documentation and ongoing compliance reporting consistent with FISMA and NIST requirements.


Responsibilities:

  • Install, monitor and maintain TAK systems within the cloud environment

  • Provide real-time technical support and troubleshooting for TAK-related issues to ensure uninterrupted operations.

  • Train and assist operators in the effective use of TAK applications for mission-critical operations.

  • Develop and maintain processes for the integration of TAK.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish data-sharing protocols and address integration challenges.

  • Configure TAK systems to meet mission requirements, including setting up custom geospatial layers, communication channels, and user permissions.

  • Monitor TAK network connections, server performance.

  • Manage TAK software updates, patches, and enhancements to ensure system reliability and security..

  • Serve as a liaison between TAK users Customer leadership to gather feedback and implement system improvements.

  • Document and report integration metrics, operational insights, and system status to stakeholders.


Qualifications

Required:

  • US Citizenship is required to obtain a DHS Suitability clearance (high risk rating).

  • 3+ years of experience with TAK in an operational or technical support role.

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years’ experience in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience-MS with 6 years’ experience, AS with 10 years’ experience, HS with 12 years’ experience)

  • Experience with data integration processes, APIs, and protocols.

  • Strong understanding of network communications, including TCP/IP, multicast, and secure data transmission.

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in real-time operational environments.
