Your Mission
The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with Portuguese accounting standards and IFRS, and supporting month-end and year-end closing activities. This role plays a key part in financial reporting, audits, and statutory compliance in Portugal.
What You’ll Be Doing
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts in accordance with IFRS and Portuguese GAAP (SNC)
Prepare and post monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries.
Perform month-end and year-end closing activities.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including accruals, prepayments, and fixed assets.
Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules.
Ensure compliance with Portuguese tax requirements, including VAT (IVA), CIT, and statutory reporting.
Support internal and external audits by providing accurate documentation and explanations.
Monitor intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
Assist in process improvements and implementation of accounting best practices.
Collaborate with AP, AR, payroll, and controlling teams.
Ensure adherence to internal controls and company policies.
Prepare group management reports and financial analyses
Calculate and manage dealer rebate schemes.
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
3+ years of experience in General Ledger or Financial Accounting
Strong knowledge of IFRS and Portuguese accounting standards (SNC)
Solid understanding of Portuguese VAT (IVA) and statutory reporting requirements
Experience with SAP ERP systems.
Advanced Excel skills
Experience in a multinational or shared service environment is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Good communication skills in Chinese/English (Portuguese is a strong advantage)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
