About this role

At Burnaby Association for Community Inclusion (BACI) Supervisors of Outreach Supports ensure people are supported to establish and pursue meaningful goals in a valued and supportive environment. The supervisor coaches and guides staff to complete assessments, planning and implementation of support for people receiving service through the Outreach department. This position is supporting individuals to achieve skills & knowledge and to assist them with their daily independent living in the community. This position works closely with Community Living British Columbia (CLBC), the Outreach Counselors, and the individual's family and support network to ensure the establishment of meaningful goals and the delivery of quality service.

 
Position: Regular Full-Time Supervisor – Outreach Supports

Location: Lower Mainland - Community Based

Salary: $33.77 per hour

Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Flexible Schedule Required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Community College Diploma in Human Services, Education, or other related field; an equivalent of education and experience may be considered. 
  • First Aid, CPR, NCI certification, TB screening, up-to-date vaccinations.  Valid Class 5 Driver’s license and use of personal vehicle required.

Knowledge and Skills

  • This position requires previous experience supporting people in community inclusion settings. 3-5 years’ experience in direct program delivery in the community social service sector. Previous administrative and supervisory experience required.
  • Working with CLBC providing oversight, coaching and skill development of staff in their roles, promoting and ensuring health & safety.  
  • Knowledge of the principles of harm reduction is an asset.  Ability to design and implement person centred supports. Well-developed interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills including the ability to be non-judgmental, respectful, and empathetic.
  • Iterative mindset and reflective practice. Comfort in trying new ways of working, navigating uncertainty, learning from experience, adapting, persistence and patience.
  • Flexibility, creativity, and initiative are essential. Ability to dialogue, plan and interact positively with people, families, and staff.  The ability to establish positive relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues and professional’s external to the agency.
  • Ability to provide direct support to the people while training, supporting, evaluating and coaching staff to work successfully in the community.
  • To enable quality supports which move people forward in leading a good life, this applicant must possess a sound knowledge of the principles of person-centered thinking and planning, and positive behavioural/communication supports and asset-based community development.  
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people with diverse and unique communication styles and backgrounds. Coaching staff, understanding community resources. Ability to work independently and supporting people in crisis.
  • Organizational skills and time management are essential.  Ability to work directly with the people while leading staff. Must have initiative, conflict resolution skills, good written and verbal communication including interviewing and performance management.  Must have computer skills to research, document, use online platforms and facilitate both in person and virtual communication and gatherings. 
  • Must be comfortable with ADP Workforce Now, Time and Attendance, and able to process time cards. Ability to manage budgets. Good organizational skills required.

BACI was created in 1956, when parents of children with disabilities in Burnaby gathered to advocate for the rights of their sons and daughters.
