About this role


Description: Early Childhood Educators work in a dynamic team environment.  They work with children between the ages of 0 -5 to provide a caring and stimulating environment which promotes intellectual, physical and emotional growth. At BACI, Early Childhood Educators ensure inclusion for all the children at the centre as they plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for the children. 


Position:  Temporary PT Early Childhood Educator (ending January 1, 2027)

Location: Burnaby, BC

Salary: $25.95 - $29.76

Hours: 20.0 hours per week Schedule: Monday - Friday 1:30pm - 5:30pm

Education & Qualifications:

- BC Early Childhood Education required, Infant Toddler Certificate and Special Needs Certificate preferred.  

- First Aid, CPR, and TB test clearance required.  

- Immunizations including COVID-19 vaccination need to be up-to-date.

- Clear BC Criminal Record Check 

- Minimum of 2 Previous Work References

Description:

- Develop, implement and lead early play-based learning programs and activities such as storytelling, reading, singing with infants and toddlers. 

- Contribute to the continuous improvement of early years curriculum through your observations and interactions with children on the front-line. 

- Maintain positive relationships and communication with families.

- Practical experience working with children requiring additional support in inclusive settings.  

- Practical experience working with children 0-5 years.  

- Understanding and commitment to the principles of inclusion.  

- Good communication skills.  

- Demonstrated ability to work with families, professionals and staff.  

- Ability to understand and follow procedure.  

- Working knowledge of computers is preferred.


This position is open to all applicants and requires union membership. The successful applicant will be required to have a Criminal Record Search and Driver’s License Search completed and reviewed by the Executive Director.

BACI was created in 1956, when parents of children with disabilities in Burnaby gathered to advocate for the rights of their sons and daughters.
