Job Purpose:

To act as the key sales interface between Bupa Global and our partner’s private and priority private banking teams by providing expert advice, education and tailored sales of Bupa’s premium international private medical insurance to eligible high net worth clients.

The Health Insurance Specialist is a key role and will work directly with the partner’s Relationship Managers (RMs), supporting them in educating, identifying, qualifying, and converting client interest into successful applications.

The role includes onboarding, eligibility screening and relationship building to deliver outstanding customer experience aligned with Bupa’s global standards.

How you’ll help us make health happen:

  • Deliver sales of international private medical insurance (IPMI) to eligible clients introduced by Relationship Managers, both face-to-face and via digital channels.
  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with our partner’s Relationship Managers, providing training and guidance on Bupa products and referral protocols
  • Perform light medical underwriting screening and triage, identifying cases that require specialist underwriting referral.
  • Provide tailored recommendations and detailed product education to clients, aligned with individual health, lifestyle and family needs
  • Guide applicants through the full onboarding process including quotation, documentation, application, and issue of cover.
  • Maintain full compliance with local regulatory requirements for licensed health insurance sales, including record keeping and client disclosures.
  • Collaborate closely with Bupa Global underwriting, compliance, and operational teams to ensure smooth case progression.
  • Actively contribute to local sales targets, pipeline reporting, and client servicing goals.
  • Support feedback loops between Bupa and partner to enhance product-market fit and client satisfaction.
  • Occasional work from Bupa Global or Bupa Hong Kong head office.
  • Expected to travel locally within city regions to banking centres; flexibility for some remote/digital consultations depending on client preference
  • May require irregular hours to meet with clients based on availability.
  • Proficiency in CRM and digital sales tools is essential.

Key Skills/Qualifications needed for this role:

  • Proven experience in selling or advising on international or domestic health insurance, life assurance, financial protection, or other regulated products.
  • Demonstrated success in client-facing roles involving affluent or high net worth individuals
  • Background in working within or alongside banks, wealth managers, IFAs or financial services providers preferred.
  • Ability to navigate sales and operational processes within highly regulated industries.
  • Experience conducting needs-based sales conversations in a professional and culturally sensitive manner.
  • Certification or license to sell insurance in the relevant local market or willingness to obtain prior to appointment.
  • Ongoing CPD as required by local health or insurance authorities.
  • Fluency in English essential; Cantonese or Mandarin highly desirable depending on market
