About the role

We’re looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our Financial Accounting team, supporting the accuracy and integrity of our financial results, and contributing to the high performing supportive team environment across finance.

 

In this role, you’ll support month‑end processes, prepare journals, complete balance sheet reconciliations, and assist with audit and group reporting requirements. You’ll apply your accounting knowledge to real business transactions and help ensure our financials reflect the scale and complexity of the Bunnings network.

 

You’ll also have the chance to be involved in process improvements and contribute to strengthening our financial control environment.

What's involved

  • Deliver accurate and timely month‑end results
  • Prepare journals including accruals, prepayments and inventory support
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
  • Support external audit requirements and group reporting
  • Manage the inventory inbox and action queries
  • Assist with ad‑hoc analysis and business performance requests
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and ways of working

 

Who we’re looking for

We’re after someone who is self‑driven, shows attention to detail, is curious and eager to learn. Someone who takes ownership, grows from feedback, and brings a calm adaptability to a fast‑paced environment. You’ll communicate clearly, work well with others, and balance a strong team focus with the confidence to get things done independently.

 

You’ll need:

  • A degree in Accounting, Commerce or Business
  • Proven experience in financial accounting
  • Commenced or completed CPA or CA accreditation
  • Strong understanding of accounting concepts and the ability to apply them
  • Experience in retail or commercial environments
  • Strong Excel skills and solid attention to detail
