We’re looking for a proactive Paralegal to support Brompton’s in-house legal function. You’ll help keep legal operations running smoothly across contracting, corporate governance, IP support, compliance, and general legal administration. Reporting to the General Counsel, this is a varied role suited to someone who’s organised, commercial, confident and comfortable working with stakeholders across the business.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting the Legal Team with in all its day to day business operations, legal queries and administration.
- Drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts
- Drafting NDAs
- Assist with roll out of updated retail terms
- Monitor legislative changes, horizon scanning and supporting the business with changes in law, and working with the Sustainability Team on ESG initiatives
- Prepare and manage the leases master sheet to help manage Brompton’s property portfolio
- Assisting in management of external counsel
- Assisting the Legal Team, and the Design and Engineering Teams, on IP portfolio management, and IP enforcement, including through take down notices
- Product compliance and customer claims
- Co-ordinate document signatures (e-signature and wet ink)
- Assist with internal governance, compliance with internal procedures, and internal trackers
- Organise document notarising and app
- Supporting with invoice processing
What you’ll need:
- A law degrees from a top university, or an undergraduate degree and the PGDL or SQE1
- Completion of the SQE2 would be a bonus
- Paralegal experience working in a law firm and/or in-house legal department
- An interest in retail/manufacturing/design
- Willingness to roll your sleeves up and take ownership of all tasks that cross your desk, from the mundane to the strategic
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Enjoy working in a busy team
- Ability to juggle shifting priorities
- A positive attitude

Flexible working
9 Day Fortnight – This is a flexible working pattern which individuals can opt in for where an employee works their contractual hours across 9 days instead of 10 days. (i.e. 80 hours across 9 days instead of 10 days). This mean the individual would work an additional hour across Monday to Thursday (across the 2 week period) to gain their Friday off.

About Brompton Bicycle
The Brompton bike was conceived as a product to help improve city living. It has established itself as the ideal choice for all those who are living or interacting with cities. The bike can be folded to a third of its size in a matter of seconds and is small enough to be taken on all forms of public transport. In fact, 42 Bromptons can fit in one car parking space!
The Brompton bike was first designed by Andrew Ritchie in 1975 opposite the Brompton Oratory in South Kensington, hence the name. The first prototypes were all designed and built in Andrew’s flat and while they were rough and crude, the majority of the key design features were already evident, such as the pivoting rear triangle that allows the rear wheel to fold underneath. Andrew looked for support from various banks and bike manufacturers, but none were willing to support his dream. Julian Vereker, an entrepreneur and the owner of an early Brompton prototype, joined Andrew in 1985 and helped to provide the money which put Brompton into full time production for the first time in 1988. Fast forward to 2016, and Brompton now offers 16.5 million combinations on the bike, every one of which is still made by hand in London.
It is now estimated that there are over 80,000 Brompton bikes in London. Three-time winner of the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, the company sells over 45,000 bikes in 44 countries around the world every year. Sales have been growing at a fast rate with the help of Brompton Junction retail stores in London, Barcelona, Munich, Beijing, Milan, Hamburg, Shanghai, Chengdu, Amsterdam, Tokyo and Kobe.
What you'll do
- The Paralegal will support the Legal Team with day-to-day operations, legal queries, and administration. Responsibilities include drafting contracts, monitoring legislative changes, and assisting with IP portfolio management.
