Job Description:

Broadstep Behavioral Health, Inc is currently hiring for a Maintenance Specialist for our Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility in Simpsonville, SC. The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for the overall maintenance of Broadstep’s psychiatric residential treatment facilities, including but not limited to responsibilities for painting, repair, construction, fire, security equipment, heating and cooling systems, vehicle maintenance and landscaping.

Schedule & Location: 

  • M-F, 8am-5pm, with flexibility for special projects.
  • Based in Simpsonville, SC.
  • Paid on-call for after-hours emergencies

 

Job Duties:

  • Performs general maintenance and janitorial duties consistent with licensing and accreditation guidelines and standards and ensures compliance at all times. 
  • Maintains full compliance with all documentation, reporting and service provision within all contracts for services within the respective subsidiary.    
  • Performs all maintenance components of Facilities Management, to include but not limited to: painting, repair, construction, fire, security equipment, heating and cooling systems, vehicle maintenance and landscaping with the goal of ensuring the Premier Environment which inspires hope, safety, trust and opportunity, and while being fluent and current with all local, state licensing, federal, and accreditation guidelines and managing the facilities to that standard.  
  • Participate in the implementation and completion of a preventive schedule of monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual facility maintenance and landscaping activities to be performed to all facilities according to facility-management, best-practice standards;   
  • Participate in the daily maintenance team meeting every morning;  
  • Participate in Real Estate Maintenance audits with QA according to the audit schedule and as assigned;  
  • Resolution Management – complete all maintenance tasks according to the following timeframes and criteria:  
  • Corrective repair – complete all corrective repair within 72 hours, unless an Emergency situation requires immediate remedy. 
  • Provide organization and upkeep to the maintenance department office and storage, to include a filing/tracking system of all tools.  
  • Track and maintain an inventory list of tools currently in the maintenance department and a list of needed tools for the maintenance department. 
  • Participate in winter snow removal and landscaping activities as assigned.  
  • Maintains a positive, professional relationship with all employees and external vendors.  
  • Must cooperate with the Licensee and Department in any inspection or investigations. 
  • Knowledge of all individual rights and the ability to identify, intervene and report appropriately when observing a violation; 
  • Knowledge of the confidentiality policy and HIPAA laws, and always apply the practices governing those policies and legislation; 
  • Knowledge of all company transportation procedures and operates all personal and company vehicles in accordance with those policies; 
  • Knowledge of all company crisis/emergency plans and applies that knowledge during each test drill and actual crisis situation. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management. 

 

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Must be 21 years of age. 
  •  Must be able to pass a background check, drug screening, physical, and TB test. 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.      
  • A minimum of 2 years of related experience.
  • Strong knowledge in troubleshooting and repairing HVAC systems. HVAC certification is strongly preferred. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to multitask, stay organized and meet deadlines. 
  • Able to be on-call for responding to after-hours emergencies

Physical Requirements:

  • Continually remain active, alert and able to respond to all scenarios. 
  • Possess the ability to perform and personally apply the state-specific crisis intervention program and CPR/First Aid skills in their entirety in trainings and actual events. 
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, works near moving mechanical parts, works in high, precarious places. 
  • Occasionally required to sit, required to taste or smell, exposed to wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather), works around fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals, exposed to outside weather conditions, and exposed to extreme heat or cold (non-weather). 
  • Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity, to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl, and required to talk or hear. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.  
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 
  • Specialized equipment, machines, or vehicles used:  maintenance equipment and company vehicles
