IMPORTANT: You must be an active Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) in North Carolina in order to be considered for this position. 

 

 

We are actively hiring for Certified Peer Support Specialists (CPSS) in the following locations:

 

  • Supply, NC serving Pender, New Hanover, and Brunswick Counties in NC. 
  • Whiteville, NC or surrounding area serving Columbus County

This role delivers mental and behavioral health services to clients in the community and requires regular daily travel.

Job Description:

The Certified Peer Support Specialist works with individuals experiencing mental health or substance abuse issues in residential, workplace, and community settings.

Job Type and Locations: This is a full-time position working in the community (this is not a remote position) and requires frequent travel to clients (mileage reimbursement provided) in one the following metro areas:

  • Supply, NC - (Serving Pender, New Hanover, and Brunswick Counties) Candidates would ideally be located in the Wilmington, Leland, or Winnabow area.
  • Whiteville, NC - (Serving Columbus County) Candidates would ideally be located in or nearby Whiteville, NC.

 

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday, between the hours of 8am-6pm, with flexibility to accommodate client schedules.

 

Pay Range: Base hourly rate of $16-$17 based on experience plus up to $5000 per year in mileage reimbursement.*

  

Job Duties:   

  • Assist program participants in the development of skills, confidence, and relationships as they resume independent living.
  • Assisting consumers in articulating personal goals for recovery. 
  • Provide direct peer counseling based on your own lived experiences.
  • Help participants understand and employ recovery strategies.
  • Assisting consumers in determining the objectives the consumers’ needs to take in order to reach their recovery goals.
  • Assisting with setting up self-help groups.
  • Teaching problem solving skills.
  • Teaching how to identify and overcome fears.
  • Supporting vocational choices.
  • Assisting in building social skills.
  • Attending treatment team meetings.
  • Role modeling recovery experience.
  • Assisting with housing.
  • Identifying self-help strategies. 

  

Job Requirements:      

  • High School Diploma or GED 
  • Active Certification as a Certified Peer Support Specialist in North Carolina
  • Valid Driver’s License and proof of current car insurance
