Overview
A family on the Upper East Side is seeking a full-time housekeeper to join their fully-staffed home. This role will be joing a team of of 2 or 3 housekeepers plus a head housekeeper. The schedule will rotate monthly. One month the schedule will be working Tues-Sat and the next month the schedule will be working Sun-Thurs. In addition, the times shift every week. One week will be working 7am-3pm. The next week would be working 8am-4pm, and the following would be working 12pm-8pm. Flexibility is key! One week in the summer will be spent out in Southampton. There is lunch delivery provided 2x a week and the staff room always has food. The candidate should already be living in NYC or a commutable distance. The family is not looking to relocate. This position is seeking longevity and is hiring immediately.
Responsibilities
- Reports to the House Manager and part of the Housekeeping team with 3 additional housekeepers who are responsible for:
Overall cleanliness and organization of the 20,000 s.f. home and its fine furnishings
Maintains the main residence for the owners
Assists at the owners’ other seasonal residences as needed
Shift work and ability to work holidays and weekends as requested and scheduled. The schedule will rotate monthly. One month the schedule will be working Tues-Sat and the next month the schedule will be working Sun-Thurs. In addition, the times shift every week. One week will be working 7am-3pm. The next week would be working 8am-4pm, and the following would be working 12pm-8pm.
One week in the summer will be spent out in Southampton
Perform daily fine housekeeping and deep cleaning duties
Laundry/Ironing; care of fine garments/linens – assists laundress weekends and as required
Formal serving for events, parties and family meals
Care of family pets
Light cooking
Setting table and serving family meals
Deep cleaning of all bathrooms; bedrooms and living spaces
Methodically dusting all surfaces of residence
Empty trash following NYC recycling rules
Fine surface cleaning; care of antiques (this does not include Chinese art work; paintings or sculptures at residence)
Sweep, scrub and mop floors
Vacuum clean carpets, rugs and draperies
Make beds, change sheets and turn down of beds
Deep clean gym and all workout equipment and accessories
Steaming Mr.’s suit when asked, care of towels and sheets on the weekends
Polishing and maintaining silver, flatware, trays, serving pieces
Liaising with Chef and House Manager to restock all refrigerators and family pantry
Assist House Manager with packing and unpacking/ prep for owners travel
Walking and feeding dogs when in residence
Report necessary domestic repairs and replacements
Requirements
- Must be legal to work in the US
- Prior Private housekeeping experience
- Comfortable handling couture clothing
- Good communication and organization skills
- Attention to detail
- Comfortable working with dogs in the home
- Must have longevity in prior roles.
