Camunda Principal Administrator, GPS BI&T

Position Summary

Senior Camunda Administrator – responsible for the installation, configuring, monitoring and maintenance of Camunda BPM/Camunda BPM Clusters (Self-Managed Cluster or SAAS), This role ensure high availability, scalability and security of Camunda environments while supporting business process automation initiatives.

 They Act as the primary owner of Camunda infrastructure, collaborating with developers, architects and business stakeholders to ensure smooth process execution and platform performance. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Platform Administration:
  • Install, configure, and upgrade Camunda 8 (Zeebe, Operate, Optimize, Task list, Identity).
  • Manage Camunda clusters in Kubernetes, AWS EKS, GCP GKE, or Azure AKS.
  • Configure Helm charts, Ingress, load balancing, and service discovery.
  • Ensure multi-environment setup (dev, QA, UAT, prod) with version alignment.
  • Security & Access Management:
  • Integrate Camunda with Identity Providers (IDPs) (Key cloak, ForgeRock, Okta, Azure AD).
  • Configure SSO, OAuth2, JWT, LDAP, and RBAC policies.
  • Implement secure secrets management (Vault, Kubernetes secrets, AWS Secrets Manager).
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting:
  • Monitor Camunda performance and health using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, and Open Telemetry.
  • Troubleshoot job execution, stuck workflows, incidents, and failed tasks.
  • Optimize BPMN/DMN deployments and engine configurations.

Database & Persistence:

  • Manage Camunda’s database (PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch).
  • Handle schema migrations, backups, and performance tuning.
  • Ensure data integrity and high availability.

Automation & CI/CD:

  • Automated deployment of Camunda using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
  • Implement infrastructure-as-code (IaC) with Terraform, Helm, and Ansible.
  • Ensure zero-downtime upgrades and efficient release cycles.
  • Collaboration & Support:
  • Work with developers to support BPMN/DMN/CMMN deployments.
  • Provide production support and root cause analysis for incidents.
  • Collaborate with business teams to improve process visibility and reporting.
  • DR Configuration and planning:
  • Design, implement, and manage Disaster Recovery solutions on AWS, including backup and recovery strategies for mission-critical systems.
  • Ensure high availability and business continuity through effective configuration of AWS services (e.g., EKS, EC2, RDS, S3, Route 53, Lambda, etc.).
  • Develop and automate DR workflows, including failover mechanisms, replication, and recovery strategies using AWS-native services.
  • Configure and manage cross-region and cross-AZ replication and backup solutions.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and DevOps teams to ensure proper integration of DR solutions with existing cloud infrastructure.
  • Monitor, test, and optimize DR configurations, ensuring compliance with SLAs for recovery time and recovery point objectives (RTO/RPO).
  • Conduct periodic disaster recovery drills to test failover procedures and assess recovery capabilities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to DR setups and guide the team on best practices for availability and resilience in AWS.
  • Stay updated on the latest DR trends, tools, and AWS innovations to continuously improve the organization’s disaster recovery strategies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Total 10+ Yrs of experience in IT, 7+ years of experience in BPM administration, with at least 4 years in Camunda.
  • Strong knowledge of Camunda 7 & Camunda 8.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm.
  • Expertise in Java-based applications and JVM tuning.
  • Strong SQL and database administration skills.
  • Experience with monitoring/logging stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, EFK/ELK).
  • Knowledge of API Gateway, microservices, and event-driven architecture.
  • Experience in developing API integration and web services
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Functional knowledge or prior experience in the Lifesciences Research and Development domain is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of security, IAM, and compliance.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
