About our team 
The Learning, Teaching and Curriculum team plays a pivotal role in advancing educational excellence within Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE). The team leverages data and research-informed insights to provide policy and guiding direction to support schools in nurturing student learning and wellbeing. Through advice, resourcing, and professional learning, the team enables schools to engage in action and agency towards excellence and equity for all learners, whilst maintaining legislative and system learning and teaching requirements. 

Summary

The Senior Education Advisor - Emerging Literacies plays a key strategic and advisory role in shaping the future of teaching and learning across BCE schools. This position provides specialised leadership in emerging foundational literacies, including STEM, digital, AI and data literacies, and guides how these evolving capabilities are embedded within P–12 curriculum, pedagogy and assessment. You will lead system‑wide initiatives, influence educational practice, analyse complex data to inform decision‑making, and build capability across schools and teams to ensure high‑quality learning outcomes for all students.

About the opportunity

In this position you will:  

  • Lead the planning, evaluation and embedding of sustainable practices that support BCE’s strategic initiatives.
  • Provide high‑level strategic advice and lead projects that inform policy, organisational direction and decision‑making.
  • Analyse data to challenge and negotiate perspectives on complex curriculum and emerging literacies.
  • Develop strategies, investigations and reviews that enhance organisational performance and contribute to the Education Strategy.
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships to share expertise and advocate for emerging literacies, including STEM.
  • Partner with school leadership teams, role holders and BCEO staff to strengthen practice.
  • Build professional capability across business areas and develop professional learning and teaching resources.  
  • Seek and provide feedback on school needs and implementation progress through BCE leaders and managers.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of initiatives centred around emerging literacies and STEM that strengthen student engagement, achievement, wellbeing and effective transitions across the phases of learning

About you

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:   

  • Strong experience in curriculum, pedagogy and contemporary literacy practices.
  • Expertise and demonstrated interest in emerging literacies (e.g., digital, AI, data).
  • Ability to build relationships and influence practice across diverse school communities.
  • Proven capability to design and deliver professional learning.
  • Conducted high level reviews and investigations linked to organisational performance.  
  • Written specialised reports and committee papers on projects you have led.  
  • Worked with multiple stakeholders and leadership teams in your area of specialty.  
  • Tertiary qualifications in a related field and/or previous experience in a similar position would be highly regarded but not essential. 

 

Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements: 

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.
  • Full registration with Queensland College of Teachers (QCT)
