Brimacombe ski area is currently seeking a Lift Mechanic Apprentice for our fast-paced alpine ski and snowboard facility. This year-round, full-time position reports to the Outdoor Operations Manager and is responsible for maintaining on site lifts, as well as various resort equipment, machinery and facilities.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Perform daily, weekly and annual routine lift maintenance
  • Detect and troubleshoot irregularities and malfunctions
  • Interact professionally with lift operations staff and assist with training of lift operators, where required. 
  • Ensure work area(s) are kept safe and clean, reporting any damage, malfunction or misuse of any company equipment and/or property.
  • Assist in any emergency situations, including but not limited to lift evacuation procedures.
  • Ensure all lifts are maintained to CSA Z-98 code and manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Accurately complete all required safety checks, logs and documentation to Brimacombe standards.
  • Operating snowmobiles and all-terrain utility vehicles
  • Charlie-Tango-Alpha-Foxtrot – using radios for communication
  • Working in a variety of weather and terrain conditions.
  • Ready to take on any challenge or help other team members when needed 
  • Perform all duties assigned by Outdoor Operations Manager and Outdoor Operations Assistant Manager.


Qualifications:


  • Registered SLM-T or having ski industry experience and willing to be registered as an apprentice. Those who currently hold a SLM-A or SLM-B certification are encouraged to apply.
  • Good communications skills, self-motivated, mature, dependable, and able to work well with others
  • Willing and able to work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to work at excessive heights. Current Working at Heights certification is an asset  
  • Valid G Driver’s License
  • Ability to operate snowmobiles, ATVs and 4x4 trucks in a safe and responsible manner
  • Operator’s certificates for associated industrial equipment an asset
  • Good working knowledge of current WSIB regulations
  • Mechanical and/or electrical experience an asset

Candidates must be willing to work from both outside and in office as required and be flexible with hours and times. Candidates must be willing to work all shifts including weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed. The successful candidate will also be required to comply with Brimacombe’s Statement of Business Conduct.
